I believe HomePod audio handoff works the same way handoff between Mac and iPhone does with safari, documents etc...which requires both devices to be on the same Apple ID.

Hand off tasks between your iPhone and your other devices

Use Handoff on iPhone to continue working on one device where you left off on another.

That makes sense. I guess I figured with multi-user support also came support for handoff with multiple users.

It does not work for me as well, I hope they fix it soon. I am not going to mess around resetting stuff just to get it working. Apple should have tested this more carefully... but I guess HomePod is low priority due to bad sales. :/

It’s very erratic for me. Sometimes it works perfectly, other times not at all. It’s a shame as its not something I’m going to think to use if it doesn’t work most of the time, it’s a feature I was really looking foward to as well
