So much money they invested on this crap that could have made sapphire iPhone with liquid metal or maybe a Retina iMac etc.

Why you have to follow the followers Apple...?

we miss you Steve!

Hey guys, Google here. Today we are pleased to announce a revolutionary new product category. This amazing device was designed from the ground up be worn on your wrist. It has a magnificent circular touchscreen, the first of its kind. Truly magical. In terms of design, our goal was to create an elegant fashion accessory that wouldn't look out of place alongside premium Swiss timepieces. We're extremely proud of what we came up with, and we think that our customers are absolutely going to love it.

Introducing the Moto 360:

I'm not sure how many Swiss timepieces you own, but this certainly doesn't look like any of mine. It looks like one of the $200, oversized watches at the Macy's jewelry counter.

Here's the thing. I don't want a digital watch approximation of a Swiss watch. No one is going to mistake a smart watch for a Patek Phillipe and think you're wealthy. Smartwatches are a chance for new wearable designs, and I think Apple is on the right track.

To top it off, Apple made the most un-Apple move and previewed without releasing. Yeah, they did it with the Mac Pro, but that was a professional level device which sales were not dependant on hype, but instead relied on a solid base of tested and supported apps, which the lead-time allowed for. This watch is a consumer product, and Apple have taken a (bad) page out of all other tech companies' books and previewed miles before the release. To top it off, nothing irritates me, and I'm sure others, more than when a company says "Spring 2015" and releases on the last day of the season, it just looks bad and Apple made that error with the thin iMacs and the Mac Pro; I fear they will do it here too.

The first iPhone was released almost six months after it was previewed. The strategy is not "un-Apple". It's bad enough to be ignorant of what you're saying, but to be ignorant and arrogant is a very bad combination.

More on topic, the Apple Watch today looks like an incomplete product; when they hold another keynote for its release and we learn of all the details I suppose we'll be better able to judge its overall value.

I'm always impressed by how many MR readers have managed sufficient hands-on time with unreleased apple products to excoriate fit, finish, and performance.

I thought it looked great in the keynote. Much better than many mockups. And these early reviews are very positive! The crown is a surprise analog feature.

I'll come back later for the thoughtful "if you like this, you must be a teenage girl and/or love all that is ugly" replies.

You do realize Steve announced and demoed the original iPhone in January of 2007 about 6 months before it shipped, right?

I think it looks alright, I'd definitely consider getting one if only as a fitness tracker.
Pity there isn't a left handed version though.

WOW, seriously is that video authentic? I cannot believe Apple would sell that fisher price watch. What's worse is they are banking on sending smilie faces to your buddies, umm yeah. You just know the same moron who designed the 5C designed this watch.

I'm NOT a big fan of square smartwatches, but the Gear 2 is the Mona Lisa next to this atrocity.

What's "fisher price" about 18 karat gold or black stainless steel?

I'm sorry....over the top posts like this really lose me....so you don't like it. Just say so.

Atrocity, fisher price this Apple Watch is not.

Fun research

Wanna know what's fun? Go back to the forums when new products were announced, such as the iPad, iPhone and others and read the snarky comments. Keep betting on Apple's demise, y'all.

I'm not saying it's 100% yet, but it's better than the original iPhone. Those of us who want to move more will get a lot out of this devise. I think they'll sell a ton of Apple Watches. I might wait for gen2, too, but gen1 has a lot to offer. Go to Pebble.com (I've had one since the beginning). Looks pretty silly compared to the Apple Watch. And the Moto? You can have it....

Its not always off. It can sense when you raise your wrist to look at it and automatically turns on.

What if you have to have your arm in the same position, like while riding a bicycle or motorcycle?

Do you really have a hard time seeing a display in sunlight? I can always see my phone well enough to know what time it is and what notifications I have.

With sunglasses? I don't know about you, but I very often have sunglasses on in a bright sunny day, and I won't like having to take them off just to see what time it is.

The phrase "hands-on" is amusing, since this is the first Apple product that goes on your hands.

Even though we're hearing the first reviews now, and the hardware choices are probably final, Apple could still make tweaks to the :apple: Watch software interface before it's released.

I cant belive how many ignorant and disrespectful morons there are in this forum.

Please, everybody read your own posts again, think about what are you saying, think again and edit your ********.

In one swell foop, Apple has just made hundreds of thousands of hours of work and design and production and tooling on all the 'smart' watches that have 'beaten' Apple to market, completely, utterly, comprehensively, embarrassingly, obsolete. No, worse than that, obsolete ugly expensive garbage.

There will be tears from Samsung tonight. I would not be surprised if the person in charge of the Galaxy Gear, does the honourable thing and resigns.

I actually feel sorry for them.

Can't wait for the trolls to come in and say how Apple did not innovate they just copied the 'smart' watch from Samual H.* Sung.

*that's 'H' for harakiri.

Oh they've been going strong for a few hours by now....

Once this Fantasy Football season is over, I'm just gonna get myself kicked out. There's not much intelligent discussion here - nor can those of us who are enthusiastic about Apple products get a word in edge-wise with all the shills and ridiculous people claiming Apple's doomed every 5 seconds.

Get ready for it Macrumors. I'm gonna go out with a bang.

(I can't get banned for saying I'm going to do something that will get me banned can I?)

Looks really cool, and I could see myself using this. But it's not worth $350.

I also feel that Apple are just jumping on the band-wagon. Samsung has a smart watch, Motorola has a smart watch. Google are releasing one.... So Apple are just filling the gap.

It's cool. But not for $350.

People here have such short memories. Samsung and Motorola hadn't even considered smart watches until MacRumors and other sites started suggesting Apple is developing one. Then they just shrunk a smartphone and rushed out these sorry excuses just to be first to market. This isn't Apple catching up or filling a gap, this is the result of several years of R&D. Apple don't release anything until they think it's ready.

This is going to be huge.

Indeed it is huge :D

I don't think anyone could call this Classy.

Functional, Sporty, Hip/Trendy perhaps.

But Classical, Tasteful, Classy..... Nooooooooo.

Tacky would be harsh perhaps.

this reminds me of the original iPad. When it came out in 2010, everyone was saying it was too thick and it wouldn't catch on. Then the iPad 2 came along a year later and was much thinner. And in terms of the catching on part, the numbers speak for themselves.

The point is, give this thing a chance guys. At least wait for the reviews before you judge.
