Just my personal take, I'd rather the one on the left.

I would too. And the LG-R is a lot better looking than the Apple watch.

For the love of God, will you PLEASE stop with the "haters" nonsense.
What are you, 12? EVERYTHING must be loved & "amazing"?!?

I've been an Apple guy since the Ben Franklin ads in Omni and I wanted so much for this to be an instabuy.
But it's ugly, non-intuitive, overpriced AND IT NEEDS A PHONE TO WORK.
This is a massive fail across the board.

Unless it changes to a standalone device in future versions, if there are future versions, along with getting rid of the crown & "friends" button
and having it be taptic enabled only, then I see this as Tim's albatross.

If you read on the web site, it has many standalone functions. A bit ipodish functions.

So what does the :apple:watch do better than a watch that the iPhone doesn't do and justify the hassle of synching and charging an extra device twice a day?

Surprisingly, the companies reversed their roles. Moto releases a very sleek device. Apple releases the one w/ more features and utility...

except apple watch doesn't have more feature or utility.

As was stated beautifully earlier: if you didn't tell me that this was an Apple product, I'd've never known it.

..and don't forget about how the wrist band clips in place..it reminded me of those parking lot carnivals and those cheap plastic bracelets they attach to your wrist .

It has to be paired with an iPhone. How close? A room or two away? When you leave your phone at home?

Probably normal bluetooth range.

My galaxy gear watch never loses connection throughout my house and garden
and vibrates when out of range - as I drive onto the road
(that's saved me a few times from forgetting my phone, and I've done similar at work)

I agree but what features and utility are you referring to regarding Apple? The Motorola X is $200 cheaper, smaller, same 1920x1080 display, 2GB of ram, metal with wood or leather backing and is running next to stock Android. This is vs the iPhone 6 plus! The $200 iPhone 6 does not even come close.
The kicker is that the Note 4 beats the Motorola X in every area. Can't believe I'm saying this but the Note 4 is "smaller" than the iPhone 6 plus yet has a larger display, 32gig standard, 3GB of ram, SD card support, S-Pen,removable battery, higher DPI, metal body, better camera and cost the same price. Mind = blown!
I thought for sure the iPhone 6 plus would come hitting with a resolution greater than 1920x1080p.

no he's right. the Koreans are well known for not only copying, but going into overdrive development mode just to get something out for the sake of getting it out. they'll throw in all sorts of bells and whistles, none of which work very well and some that don't even work at all. that is what they do, the Koreans. they copy. along with the Chinese. i'm not being racist, i'm stating the facts. the Koreans did it with Hyundai, and they did it with Samsung. once the Chinese have an established smartphone brand, count them in too. all they do is copy copy copy and that is speaking from a little over a decade of product development experience directly working with a Chinese supplier. we caught them trying to copy our stuff and they play it off as they were trying to work on a new design for us. we ditched them and went to another company. but over there in China, they are all the same and the "people's republic of china" protects them. we cry communism that obama bailed out GM, yet we are perfectly content with Chinese manipulation. i don't get it

Apple would have invented this category as they did with previous categories, if it wasn't for the rumors that Samsung and other reacted to. if Apple ever wants to invent a new category, they need to eliminate the rumors and eliminate the leaks. they need to ditch Samsung and its associated partners as parts supplier and become completely independent. otherwise, Apple will always be late to the game on everything even if they came up with the idea years prior

Lol! Some people man..no wonder the country's declining...

I thought it looked brilliant. The fact you can change all the colours is going to be a real selling point to people who like to accessorise and change moods. Will I buy one? don't know what I'd do with it to be honest. Could be fun but i need more than fun.

When all the rumors were buzzing about this, I laughed and thought that Apple probably had no interest in making a watch. I just couldn't think of any use cases (other than for fitness purposes and maybe checking the time) that I wouldn't be happier pulling my iPhone out of my pocket. But the joke was on me, because they went ahead and made one. And it sure does look like a joke. No compelling use cases. Sending rudimentary drawings, my heartbeat, or single emoticons to my wife sounds about as useful as the parallax feature of my iPhone 5. I guess I shouldn't have put it past them, seeing as the company is now run by people like Ive who already ruined the iOS UI.

And it doesn't look fashionable, either. The Motorola watch looks nicer. But I don't wear a watch, so no big deal. $350 saved for me.

If they want to waste R&D resources creating something like this, fine. But it would probably take them less than a day's work to open up the AppleTV to 3rd party app support, which is something a lot of people have clamored for.

Hilarious posts. All of you armchair inventors and industrial designers who spew ridiculous comments about the Apple Watch but have never seen one in person, barely know how it works since it's only just been released, and compare it to all of the rumored renders that were never even a possibility since some were as flat a piece of cardboard. Why not "wait on the hate" until you can actually go test one out and see it in person.

And, I bet, 80% of you will own one come early next year.

Go test what? Seeing my photos in a 1,5" display? Hearing my heartbeat all the time? or playing with emoji? I'm a user not a buyer.

Who would have imagined just 10 years ago people would actually send a text message to a person rather than just call the person. OMG!

Things change. I say do not buy the Apple Watch until you're ready to take the next step in technology. Better yet, maybe stop texting & just call people & leave a message. Innovative, I know.

Go Apple! Things always get better with each revision. Just look at the original Corvette compared to the 2015, to the Mac computer, the... :apple:

I was texting 14 years ago instead of phoning when I was 16 with my rubbish Alcatel phone which could only do caps text - all my friends had mobiles then. I get your point overall, and actually showing it to my wife (who is not a techie by any means) she loves the look. The innovation is in the software and the size. It also looks like the watch straps are user changeable so there's a huge market in selling multiple straps to one person [I'd go for a smart one for work and then a sports strap]. I have a Nike+ watch which cost £100 and syncs to a pedometer and a heartbeat monitor. If the :apple:Watch can do that and sync with your phone [and, perhaps more importantly as I'm a leftie, be used the other way up with the buttons on the left] and have an option to have the clock permanently on, I'd be very happy.

nobody reads this far down but me...

I don't wear watches. I probably won't get one.

That being said I think it is a nice product at a nice price point. Compared to the high price of high end watches, this is a watch for the masses.

I said I probably won't get one. Well, it depends on the apps. That is what made the iPhone great, and still where it edges above android: the apps. If developers are creating cool, helpful apps, I would definitely reconsider.

We're extremely proud of what we came up with, and we think that our customers are absolutely going to love it.

Introducing the Moto 360: ...

OK Google, so maybe you shouldn't have sold Motorola to Lenovo.
If the Moto 270 (not really fully 360 degrees) were actually any good.

I've only read five pages of this thread so forgive me if it's been answered, but what if you're left handed??

The iPhone was such a hit because it made touch screens, and smartphones, accessible; it certainly wasn't the first "smartphone". But changing the clock face on this... oh my word I would have no idea whatsoever how to do that without an instruction manual. If any of my friends are stupid enough to buy this and they were to lend it to me, I'd probably accidentally drop it into a useless world clock app and have no clue how to get out.

You are now aware that the original Mac required a user manual to explain the mouse.
