Really, you are going to bitch about a 25% performance increase, in a chip that ALREADY has the best single core performance? Almost all processing on a phone is done on the first two cores, so that makes the 6 a powerhouse performer. It also has a top of the line GPU. Not to mention top of the line screen performance (color reproduction, contrast), thoughest screen (except the kyocera Saphire display which ships in very low quantity).

Iphone 6 has the single core performance of a 2010-11 midrange laptop, in a smart phone!

Also, battery life has been significantly improved, its close to being the best (for the 6) and probably the best for the 6+

I beg you, stop telling me of the iPhone 6 performance, camera and display excellene like if you were owning one for several months now. There have been no thorough review to approve Apple's marketing statements which I seriously doubt to be 100% true.

I have been owning one for quite a few months now actually but it is disguised as a Note 3. Lol

I just don't understand the hate for the new iPhones. If you hate them, then buy an android and stop trolling. Plus, the phone isn't even in the hands of the people yet, so there's no way they can fairly judge its performance.

I love iPhones because of the apps. Hey, wait a minute. Isn't that what we use our smartphones for anyway? iOS apps are so much more polished and the variety of them is astounding. I've used android for 4 years and finally made the switch. I thought I was going to be disappointed and that I would just have to settle for an iphone. The more I use my 5s the more I love it.

I agree with you. I'm particular excited - as someone who doesn't own an iPad - that the 6 Plus will fill the gap (literally and figuratively) between phone and laptop so I won't need or even want an iPad.

Am I the only one that think the iPhone 5S looks much nicer and more "premium" than the 6?

I would have been very satisfied with an iphone 5S design with a 5" screen and slightly thinner.

I wish it had the 4S's design personally.

----------

You are right. I still think the 4s is the best phone Apple ever made.

I plan on buying one soon with a super cheap contract. It's under 300 now so it's pretty much a no brainer. I have no need for the latest and greatest when it comes to a phone. It's all relative really. I've never had a smartphone so an iPhone 4S will be just as good to me as a 6 to someone else.

----------

IVE is gonna get FIRED.

lol

----------

I also think that HTC stole the rear design of the iPhone 5 and put it to the front of their phone so... :)

Anyway could somebody tell us if there is indeed a 6th row of icons or if it is limited to 5 ? because of the display zoom feature i'm not sure it is possible to add a 6th one, can someone confirm pls ?
thanks

There's 6 on the regular view and 5 on the zoom view.

That was such a gorgeous phone. The last great Apple design?

Apple are reminding me of post 90's Mercedes at the moment - they've lost the magic engineering and design feel they had and are being led by the marketing department and bean counters. This is the least impressive "next iteration" announcement from Apple since the 5 for me, they're taking backward design steps each time lately...

They've always been led by marketing and bean counting. The iPad had 256 MBs of RAM for christ's sake.

----------

100% agree. Apple is now a reactive company. Copying phone design from Samsung, rushing to announce the iWatch 6 months before release out of fear of competitors.

Are you kidding? How did Apple steal samesung's plastic design?

And apple announced the iphone and ipad 6 months early also... You have no point.

designwise:

iPhone 5s: 6/10
iPhone 6: 8/10
Apple Watch: 4/10
Mac Pro: 10/10
MacBook Pro: 9/10

I wanted the Watch to be round and black like the Mac Pro.
My favorite iPhone was the original 2007. Very utilitarian and minimal.

What about the 4/4S design? That remains, in my opinion, the most beautiful design yet. Maybe not the most practical, but beautiful.

Really? I'd have expected the majority to be iPhone5 customers?

Think about it.
The 4 is now cannibalized & is no longer supported on upgrades to the ios.
The 4s is supported, and (more than likely) this will be the last time it's supported for ios upgrades.
Both of these are now some of the smallest screen smart phones on the market...and "feel" old now. Most owners were holding out for the larger screen, not seeing the 5 and 5s as something worth upgrading to.

As of May 2014 in the United States, the bulk of iphone users were still using the 4 and 4s according to this article. I don't know the scope of the survey...and the article even says there were errors with the 3gs not being compatible with one of the networks...but, regardless...that's some crazy numbers (even with marginal error).

Actually, most of the iPhone 4 owners I knew went to the 5, and 4S owners to the 5S due to their cell provider contracts expiring and them being due an upgrade

Haven't seen any official figures/estimates though

I know several people that have been due an upgrade for 2 years...and were holding out for the bigger screen size. And are now more than likely going android due to the disappointment in offerings on the new iphone.
Personally, it's exactly what I've been expecting...so, I'm happy to upgrade. (from my 4s...yes, I'm one of the hold-outs)
It's like pulling teeth to get my husband to change his wallet, let alone his phone. He's still using a 4, and his home button is bunk...and only works if you press it from behind the phone as well. ha.

Apple has gone from to sibylline to the ridiculous here with marketing..

"Retina HD Display" ??

me things they only NOW Apple says "HD" because the iPhone 5.5-inch Plus is 1920x1080, which matches that of such of a display of HD.

High definition ? huh ? on a phone ? its just one model...

This kinda makes the normal non-HD phone looks crap doesn't it ? because its "just" Retina ?

Still sharp, but Apple says says a new kid in town.

You gotta admire Apple for really showing the word really well ... Their new wording clearly says it all...

The split screen thing where it slide down form the top is just wired...

Sorry Apple, Looks like the iPhone 6 and iOS8 is only really good for the 'health fitness buffs'..

A first for me, since i will not be upgrading to either.

I don't agree with the criticism in the comment to which you responded to, but I find your argument to be downright stupid.

Do you use a Mac? Because Windows sells more than OS X, so by your reasoning Windows is superior.

Even iOS will eventually fall behind Android in total market share. Does that mean Android is superior to iOS?

Sales figures actually say very little about the worth of a product.

What in the world are you talking about?! Dude said Jonny I is fired. That's what I was responding to, what is he going to be fire for? When you and I know the these 6's are gonna sell crazy town. And what are talking about regarding android and windows, huh? I think you got me mixed up with another poster sir.

After Close To A Month...

I have had my iPhone 6 Plus for about a month.* I had the 5 before and had an unbelievable amount of trouble from it after I downloaded iOS 7. I have small hands but I noticed how gracefully and easily I could use such a big device as the 6 Plus. The finish is superb, I got the gold one and it looks as if it were made by a watchmaker, the glass almost looks like porcelain and the gold on the case does look like matte gold. It is beautiful.

Setting it up was a piece of cake, just make sure that you backup your old phone to the cloud first, no matter how enthusiastic you are.

How does it perform? Just about perfectly. The fingerprint I.D. has been flawless, paying for things in iTunes with just a touch of your finger is the way to go. Phone reception has been much improved since the 5, no dropped calls and clear sound (they did say a few words about that at the unveiling but usually don't talk too much about the iPhone as a *gasp* phone. But it's a much better phone.

The bigger screen is perfect, you can actually see letters and words and they are no longer ant sized. The swipe keyboard takes a little getting used to but once you get the drift, it's very simple. I also bought a $20 Bluetooth keyboard (Anker brand) and now I have a real good mini iPad, particularly useful on airplanes. Get a folio-stand case (Incipio makes a good selection) and life got a lot more efficient.

The camera is amazing. So many tricks and features, it would take a long time to explore them all and work out where they fit into your life (slow-mo...how great is that?). Delayed photography is very useful for taking pictures of your products, filters and coloring, cropping, and just about anything you would want.

The Apple Health app had a bit of a slow start but now all of my favorite tracking apps input into Health except for one (Polar hasn't come through yet but remember, they are going to be serious competition to the iWatch). it's great to see statistics on:calories (LoseIt), workout statistics (Digifit), sleeping stats (Sleep Time), walking and distance are gathered by the phone itself. This could be habit forming.

The external speakers are much louder than former models.

OK, what are the downsides? I had a few anomalies with the internet connection (just cut out on me for no reason), it is a big device for sure so you might have to be aware of you are is balancing it. It is hard to strap to yourself while you are working out. It is heavier than the previous iPhones (6.2 oz by my scale). The earbuds are the same as the iPhone 5, no improvements. Finally, there is the dim button directly on the opposite side as the volume controls so if you grab the phone in that area, you might turn off or up something which needs to be on or down. None of these things are a deal breaker, though. I actually have to get into the super picky area before I can think of something.

If you are waiting for one now, the wait is worth it. A distinct improvement.

*I tried to buy it online the minute Apple allowed it, I was told that I could not buy it there, I had to go to AT&T and buy it there because I am an AT&T business customer. I did that, was the 2nd person in line (everyone was at the Apple Store in Kenwood). I ordered my phone. My electronic tracking message told me that it would ship between Oct. 31 and Nov. 11. I got the phone in about 2 weeks. I was very lucky but circumstances went in my favor.
