I love it how apple follows the market, yet refuses to implement a good handwriting solution that half of iPad users have been craving for since its conception.

Galaxy Note its huge, but it also has outstanding handwriting capabilities. This thing is just huge and nothing else.

i wish i wish i wish....

They'd made the new design available in the current screen size, I really don't want a Samsung meg phablet, and even the 6 looks larger than I would really like. I wouldn't be surprised actually, depending on sales, if they were to re-introduce the current size phone in the new design next September, rather than doing away with it completely. I certainly don't see them continually churning out the 5c and 5s over the years as the 'budget' option. For me, and most people I know, on the go we use our iPhones for occasionally facebook checking and such, a really big screen really isn't a huge benefit as if I want something for watching video etc I'll use my iPad/Mini.

I was wondering the same. Reports are saying the reason for the larger phones is to stop people who want larger phones migrating to Android.

So what about those of us that are happy enough with the size of the 5 and don't want to go larger, should we migrate to Android to get a handset refresh?

That 6+ looks like an iPad Mini. SMH I will never understand why someone needs a phone that large. Get a tablet.

I'm actually excited that the iPhone 6 Plus is near a small tablet size. It's large enough to be comfortable on the eyes (like a tablet) but still small enough that I could fit it in my pocket. I could actually manage putting the iPad mini in my pocket, but it wasn't comfortable. I rarely get phone calls too, and when I do make calls, I use the EarPods with phone in pocket.

I thought double tapping brings up all the open apps for closing? Or did it bring up Siri? o_O

What color phone would have the best resale value?

I have another Q to add: If we pre order and it sent to our house, will it arrive on the 19th? Thanks!

Trying to decide between the 6 and 6+ so I borrowed a Samsung Note 2 from a work colleague that also has a 5.5 inch screen.

For me it feels to big, but he loves it as a device.

Think at the moment I will move from my 5 to a 6 and leave the 6+ alone, can't see any specific needs I have for the extra screen space.

What about iPhone 5 you are using vs 4S?

uhm..
iPhone 5 brought: 16x9 display, 2x cpu/gpu performance, nicer and lighter design, lightning connector, LTE.
iPhone 6 brings: just bigger display with IMO pretty idiotic screen estate usage, so-so design, less than 50% performance increase, camera with some not really obvious advancements.

I hope you'll figure the answer without my help, won't you?

I'm really surprised to not see a hands on comparison in size with a 4 or 4s...since that's what the mass exodus of upgrades will come from.

Exactly where I'm at. Going with the 6 now and want to check out the new iPad later. That plus is just bigger than I want for a phone.

Preorder and Shipping

Does anyone know if preorders on the 12th will arrive on day one or if they just ship from Apples warehouse on day one? I assumed it meant that it was going to be on my doorstep on the 19th but after rewatching the keynote they say they will begin shipping on the 19th so I was starting to think that this meant that all the people who preorder are going to have them delivered after that date.

Pretty underwhelming for all but the most resilient Apple supporters. Little to shout about, no innovation and nothing that would make the average buyer switch from Android to iOS.

I like most of my Apple kit but they just don't hit the mark for me when it comes to phones. Dropping 32 gig was nothing other than a cynical ploy to milk even more cash out of their loyal customers.

If this was a school report then it would be marked - must try harder next term.

Based on past experience they will be delivered to you on the 19th as they try to match the ones that arrive then with the ability for people to pick them up in the shops.

When Apple says shipping they really mean when it arrives with you.

Taff

Still banging out 16GB phones - this is some shameful ***** apple

Gee, I seriously can never get around this complain!! I tryly understand why you don't want or need one (I don't either) but since Apple keeps producing them it just probably means people buy them! If they don't, then am sure Apple would stop making them and move on to another starting capacity! I can't understand though why they did not include 32GB.... that's a bit stupid not to.

Really, you are going to bitch about a 25% performance increase, in a chip that ALREADY has the best single core performance? Almost all processing on a phone is done on the first two cores, so that makes the 6 a powerhouse performer. It also has a top of the line GPU. Not to mention top of the line screen performance (color reproduction, contrast), thoughest screen (except the kyocera Saphire display which ships in very low quantity).

Iphone 6 has the single core performance of a 2010-11 midrange laptop, in a smart phone!

Also, battery life has been significantly improved, its close to being the best (for the 6) and probably the best for the 6+

I have man hands not those little burger king hands..iphone 6plus it is

People are talking out of their butt. I was able to purchase a 5s last year directly from apple full price and it was unlocked. I used it on Aat&T.
