You can love or hate Apples designs, but at least their consistent. I feel like Samsung changes their designs just because. I try to use a Samsung device now and again but I can’t get around the haphazard/chaotic feeling that is One UI. Duplicate apps, design elements all over the place, ads baked in stock apps and the lock screen, having to manage several accounts just to use the phone (Gmail, Samsung & Outlook account), 9 ways to unlock the device which are all inferior to Face ID, carrier bloatware, Samsung Bloatware (Facebook etc), lack of updates. The list goes on an on.

Same size as the iPhone just thinner bezels and they’re perfect.

iPhone looks so so dated with the fat notch.
I don’t mind the notch-it’s functional and offers a much better level of security hardware wise than the Samsung. The Samsung camera arrangement is just awful looking as well. I think the iPhone 11 Pro/12/12 Pro are some of the best looking devices on the market.

I have the iPhone 12 pRo max, and have had iPhones since forever, but I gotta give it to Samsung and their design. The phones look good. The notch, while it doesn’t bother me on day to day usage looks ugly compared to the s20/s21. And the color on the Samsung screen panels are impeccable. In fact, Apple sources Samsung for the iPhone screens.

But physical beauty aside, it’s what inside that counts, and the A14 dominates while Snapdragon limps along. So iPhone it is for me. Although I wish apple would implement an alternative to Dex on the iPhone. Clearly with the A14 performance, the iPhone is powerful enough to have a dex alternative.

I personally hate the trend of more narrow but longer android phones. Reason enough for me not to consider it.
This ^^^ sold my xs max got an S20 plus 5G. Terrible phone, long and thin, over heated all the time, poor battery life (possibly due to screen but not 5G as I didnt have it in my area). Back to an iPhone 11 Pro Max within 4 months.

Its glass..
But why do people think glass is a 'premium' material? Its just as cheap to make as plastic, more likely to shatter, and denser.
You’re kidding right?
You must be as there isn’t a sammy sucker in the world that believes plastic compares or looks better then the glass back on iPhone 12.

Seriously I want a plastic phone said no one ever. And not just iPhone users either.

As for the cost claim it’s utter nonsense.

In general plastic doesn’t feel as solid or as nice to the fingers. There is high quality plastic but it’s not usually used on Android phones to cut costs.

I would prefer plastic over glass. Something like G-10 would be even better. Or metal - titanium being my favorite, then magnesium, steel, aluminium.

Glass is my least favorite material for this, seriously.

It will be nice when the notch is gone.
And the notch WILL go.
We're just not there yet with the "tech" to place all the sensors under the display and have them work acceptably.

100% Certain apple is working on making this happen, but it's going to take time for other companies to develop the tech in large enough numbers for Apple to buy from them to be fitted into iphones.

What do we think? 5 years before notches with vanish totally?

It is always personal preference. I moved from the Galaxy line to a XS Max for software we run at work and I actually like the notch. Apple did a nice job of making it a useable space rather. When it portrait mode, it gives me all the system data such as time, battery, and network information.

i can see why some don’t like it, but it really is nice as implemented. i do prefer it over the single camera hole.
I’m with you. Have never understood the blatant hatred of the notch, but people are entitled to their opinions.

Security is using a long passphrase to unlock. Convenience is using face to unlock.
Both phones have their pluses and minuses. I have family members who love their Samsungs; and as long as it doees what they want more power to them.

From a security standpoint, you can turn off Face ID to unlock and requiere a passcode onthe iPhone.

Because there is a natural liking to the closest a screen can be to “bezelessness” despite technology limitations
