It's the same resolution

Apple, please stop with the Android stuff. I don't want any more screen sizes to juggle when I'm making apps. It's starting to feel like BlackBerry again.

It's the same resolution 1024x768, only smaller. Nothing to juggle.

So it's too wide to grab it with one hand from behind, but the bezel is to thin to grab it with one hand from one side. I really hope Apple's put more thought into this (IF it exists). Otherwise Nexus 7 ftw.

I really don't get the mini form factor. I tried a Nexus 7 and wasn't thrilled with the size compared to my iPad. My iPad I can use instead of my laptop, the Nexus 7 size just couldn't work as well to do tasks like Citrix desktop etc.
Personally, I am the opposite. I don't understand why people want something as big as an iPad. It's heavy, uncomfortable and just too big to be used in one hand comfortably. The screen real estate is nice, but not necessary with a well designed app. Give me an iPad that is half the size and 1/4 the weight and I'll be interested.

So sick of mockups

Start showing us real leaked parts instead of these silly mockups. I am sick of seeing these recycled rumors of cardboard cut outs and physical mockups. This is just selling vapor.

Two words:

NEXUS 7

I gave the Nexus 7 a shot and returned it.

Bring on the iPad Mini. At least I can use it in landscape, unlike the Nexus 7. Oh, and it doesn't have me signed into Google Chat at all times either. Not to mention the frustrating app selection. The screen is bigger on the iPad Mini too.

New iPad is so much better than this mini. I can see why apple would want to soak up as much cash as they can from customers though. I like the size of the ipad as it is now. Like the new nano, the ipad mini is just a waste. Small stuff thrown in for peeps that dont want or have the cash for the better stuff.

This is bigger than a Nexus 7 and Citrix desktop isn't a consideration for many. For the right price, I think there are a lot of people who would pay for a smaller iPad.

So, no leaked parts but this is expected next month. I don't think so, this is just some crap made up on an desktop CNC machine it doesn't even look a credible design.

...

So they didnt increase the width of the iphone 5 so it was easy to hold in one hand but using this thing in one hand is acceptable?

"Waste"? "Small stuff"? "...don't have the cash"?

Complete balls. Navel-gaze much?

For a tablet, yes. You don't tend to hold tablets up to your ear.

In fact I bet that will be a strong selling point Apple will make, given it's not something you can do with the iPad.

I have a check here written out to Apple for exactly $299 with "iPad Mini" in the Memo Line. (no sales tax in Delaware)

As soon as Apple releases an iPad Mini for the exact amount of this check, they are free to cash it whenever they would like

I have an original iPad, but if this comes out with LTE I'm asking for one for Christmas. I'd love to have something bigger than my iPhone for travel.

If it's not LTE... I'll plan on picking up a 16gb one when they are refreshed in the spring.

I predict 8GB standard, at $249. That's cheaper than the new iPod Touch, but also has much less memory (base iPod Touch has 32GB). WiFi only, but LTE will be available.

I think that's reasonable.

The two most likely scenariso I see are (for lower end, obviously there will be higher storage):

16GB for $299

or

8GB/16GB being $249/$349.

The first scenario could include a 8GB for $199 or $249 if Apple wanted to be really aggressive on pricing, but I'm not so sure they would.

While evidence seems to support this, I still have a hard time with this idea. Apple has been hyping retina screens on everything and with the latest release, they now have no current non-retina handhelds aside from the iPad 2 (unless you count the Nano). I can't see how they would release an iPad mini without a retina screen, especially when both the new Kindle Fire and Nexus have HiDPI screens. Why would Apple release a tablet that is bigger than the Nexus with a lower resolution than it? I think it's more likely that the iPad Mini will replace the iPad 2 at the $399 price point (or maybe $349) and will have a retina screen in a new resolution. Apple has never been one to release inferior products because it will be easier for app developers.

Cheaper? You already know the price of the iPad mini? Please give me more details, almighty future-time-traveler...

My better half would like this, she's constantly on my iPad 3, also it'd be great for in-car entertainment!

Around 1:54 he says he "obviously has no idea what that's meant to be" referring to the rear-facing camera. Uhm, maybe it's for taking pictures, recording video, and the reverse angle on Facetime?

Or am I obviously missing something too?

He was probably referring to what it is meant to be in MP. 4MP, 5MP???
