nope. billions of functional lightning cables exist in the world today. environmentally friendly would be to use them as much as possible instead of accelerating the death of it.
Accelerating the death?! Is that a joke? It should have been dead already. The disaster was Apple sticking to the archaic Lightning format when it should have been switched over years ago when the iPad Pro and Mac made the move. So it's of Apple's making if were being honest here.

But, yes - thanks, EU for bringing Apple kicking and screaming into 2023. Finally.

Edit: Grammar mistake that bugged me.

Only 2 things I want with this iPhone and iOS 17 is the ability to lock multi-task windows so I don't accidentally close them while swiping and for action mode to be available in 4k on the non-max size. Simple.

Is there anyone actually excited about these phones? I mean there really isn’t much to do for form factor other than folding, the iPhones have essentially remained unchanged since the X other than camera placement and size. USB-C will be nice, but I am beginning to wonder if I am gonna upgrade this year after all.

While I previously would have agreed with you, I've had nothing but problems with Lightning. Yet all of my USB-C devices never fail me. The time has come.

I've had nothing but problems with USB-C. I brought a 60W cable on a cruise but didn't realize it. Laptop kept dying because the cable couldn't charge at full speed.

Then some USB-C cables only operate at 2.0 speeds when you need to transfer from SSD to MacBook

And who knows which cables are USB-IF certified. Which one is going to fry my device? I'll never know. My box is full of unknown USB-C cables. What am I supposed to do?

Yeah sure it is....because using a different cable for everything is environmental friendly.
no. reusing billions of functioning cables that exist today is environmentally friendly.

Releasing new iPhone models every year might be the biggest environmental disaster.

nope. if Apple doesn't, people will switch to android since they release more often with newer features while iPhone goes stale. same problem exists.

You have no idea how the ecosystem works. Lots of history/nuance you skipped over just because you want to vent on a port you don't like.

And I'm sure we'll all thank EU for these ridiculous cookie popups too that most people don't care about 😂.

Hope USB-C is in indication 8k video is coming. At least in the pros.

There are billions of USB-A Cables as well. 🤣 /// Most of us have USB-C Cables already. Even my old Thinkpad has already USB-C. In the greater view makes USB-C more sense. Move on ;)

Anyone else super tired of this design?
I’ll never understand this question. Other than making it thicker to allow for a larger battery, lens rearrangement that might allow for everything to be flush, what needs to be changed?

We’ve had round edges, to square, back to round and then square again. Should they try octagonal or triangle edges? Maybe a triangular phone.

Technology with better cameras make for massive bumps. Make the phone super thick and everyone will call it a cinder block instead of just a brick.

Design is fine. JMO. 👊😃👍
