What do people honestly expect? Have the Pixel and Galaxy lines, both great phones, changed drastically? I honestly don't know, but they seem to have a similar design aesthetic from each iteration. Same with iPhones. It feels like we are at the ceiling of aesthetics—it's the internals that count ;)

Pixel hardware hasn’t changed much. It’s the software that had. Android 14 beta is fantastic

I upgraded from the 6S to the iPhone X and paid for that upgrade out of pocket financed at 0% interest through AT&T and paid off in two years because I loved the redesigned X and Face ID when the device first cane out.

I was still content with the X but upgraded from the X to the 12 Pro when AT&T brought 5G to my hometown and were basically subsidizing the entire cost of that phone. It was less than $10 a month with the billing credits they offered up if you stuck with them for 2 years so I went ahead and pulled the trigger because to me 5G was worth it.

I was planning on upgrading to the 15 Pro because of the USB-C port since my MacBook Air and iPad all charge with those ports but I’m honestly considering skipping the 15 now and waiting for the redesigned 16. Other than USB-C I’m not seeing anything that seems like it’s compelling enough to upgrade unless AT&T, Verizon or T-Mobile make a similar offer to the one AT&T put out there when 5G rolled out. If they do that or something close to it I’ll upgrade. If not I’ll wait. We’ve hit peak smart phone and upgrading every year or two years simple isn’t as compelling anymore as it was when it seemed like every other year there was a good reason to upgrade.

I went from the OG AT&T Edge based iPhone to the 3GS, passed up the 4 and 4S but upgraded to the 5. Then the 5S for Touch ID followed two years later by the 6S. Each leap has seemed worth it but if all we’re really getting is slightly more RAM, a new vegetation processor that I won’t really use and a slightly better camera that I won’t really use because I don’t take a lot of photos or record much video then just getting USB-C alone and nothing more doesn’t seem like it’s worth the money.

Agreed! But I think a cable failure is part of the port failure. They interconnect. ♾️
This would probably help while you’re waiting for the next iPhone:

I was really hoping for a periscope lens. I miss using 1-30X zoom on the Galaxy Ultra devices. It's quite handy for wildlife and nature shots.

News flash: it isn’t. The cable between the two connectors is just thin pieces of metal wrapped in plastic, no matter whether the end is lightning, USBC, micro USB, USBA…

This one looks like an obvious case of “youre holding it wrong” where the cable has been held to insert or pull out the cable rather than the solid piece of plastic which is designed to handle such interactions.

The same would happen with a USB-C cable plugged into the same device the same way.

What design would you like to see? Triangular? Octagonal? Round?

iPhone 15, at last! I have been struggling the last few months with how unbearably slow the iPhone 14 pro has become and that USB-C port!, life changing you guys!! (sarcasm)
If I wanted to I couldn’t fake my excitement about this phone. The 16 is larger solid haptic feedback buttons that seems more interesting this this iPhone 14.5 update lol

I can’t wait to drop $1,400 for a new port. Maybe I’ll get a different color to throw a case over just to make it seem like a better decision.

👊🙄👍
You too!!! I thought I was the only crazy one 😂😂😂 after years of buying 2-3 iPhones & upgrading every year except for the iPhone 4s & 14 I can honestly say that I’m bored. After trying the Fold phones & since Steve Jobs died the lack up significant updates to the phones it’s hard to get excited

No. You failed to realize that switching USB-C on iPads and Macs doesn't negate the #1 use of lightning: charging iPhones. It's clear that Apple wants people to move to MagSafe before going portless so it's best to continue using the billions of functional cables instead of switching to USB-C for a few years AND THEN go portless.
Say hello to the faux environmentalist, everyone. Acts like he cares about the environment, all while seemingly supporting a port-less phone, which dictates wireless charging, which leads to massive inefficiency and wasted energy.

Score for mother earth! 🙄

Yeah, I've seen enough from this one. Enjoy the absurd Lightning cable while it's here. Thankfully it's getting banished soon enough.

What's next, EU? Keep it coming.

Yet, EU claims to be doing it for the environment and hasn't banned wireless charging and even goes as far as to allow portless iPhones.

So which is it, both me and EU are "faux environmentalists" or not? Can't have one without the other. Your logic flies out the window. 😂😂😂😂😂

What about slimmer bezels? Isn’t that one or the new things with both 15 Pro Models? Or will it be exclusive for the Max?

It quite literally doesn't work like that. The port is completely fine in that picture so it's in absolutely no way a port failure. Whether that was lighting or USB-C on the end of that cable it would look the same.

Anyone else super tired of this design?
*Me laughing because I haven’t even gotten a chance to use this design yet and people are calling it old.*

I have an 11Pro. I am excited about the squared design with the DI and ultra thin bezels and titanium material and the 4 years of camera improvements, battery jumps, and satellite connectivity. Gonna be huge for me.

Anyone complaining could just, you know, wait a year and spend their money on something else this cycle.

Well, they could finally get around to fixing the mess they made of website cookies.
