A video couldn't tell you the whole experience, you got to feel it with your hands. I'm totally in love with it.
These are different level technologies. Is 3DTouch the same as Force Touch? If affirmative, why use two names? Yet another example of how clueless is Apple on these itoy days.

Force Touch requires..um..force.
3D touch not.
3D touching to get the app switcher to activate is definitely my least favorite of the force actions so far on the 6s Plus

When I said Force Touch, I was thinking in the latest MacBooks that have it. If 3DTouch is an "upgrade", it's quite disappointing to see top of the line MacBooks shipping with an obsolete technology just a couple of months after their release.I think the difference is that 3D Touch knows the position of the force on the screen. On the Watch, Force Touch is all or nothing and doesn't matter where on the screen you press - there is no context. Perhaps that's just a software difference, but I don't think so.
Not seeing this problem on my 6S.Doesn't seem to recognise force touch on the top and bottom 1.5cm of the screen. Anyone else noticed the same? I guess it makes sense as the display can't flex that close to it's supports.
Yesterday 3D Touch wasn't working for the Music app. It is today though. If you mean peak, it works with my 6S, you need to press just as hard as you do w the other apps. I also have the setting set to light.
Yeah, it feels good. The new Taptic motor they have is great, not just for 3D Touch, but for other notifications as well.A video couldn't tell you the whole experience, you got to feel it with your hands. I'm totally in love with it.
Tried it out in store. The problem right now is that a lot of the preinstalled first-party applications don't even support the basic home screen shortcuts, which basically means that I have to remember/try which apps have shortcuts and which don't. Something they should try to do is possible add some sort of visual hints as to where there are force touch actions available.
From the size of the contact area (of course, it'd involve many variables, so a lot of guessing and as a result, less precision).IDK how you would get different pressure measurements w/out hardware to detect it lol
I have exactly the same doubt. Like when you press and hold on a song on spotify to pre-listen to a songSomeone really needs a way to explain pundits on how this is different from press and hold on a active link or data detectors actions. You can read how dismissive some of the comments online regarding 3D Touch.
Huh? How can something that is hardware based be done in software. Haven't you spent any time reading about how 3D is implemented? It's entirely hardware dependent. Folks, if you want credibility, get your facts straight and separate from bad guesses.Kinda bummed that this is hardware based and not software based. I guess something new needed to be added to the 6S in order to get people to buy it. Maybe next year will bring something new an exciting as well.
To me this seems like a technology that will take a year to become useful.
Right now everything it offers is just shortcuts und a preview function, that's it.
