Please read more carefully. They didn't say 3D Touch "to reorder contacts" - they said "during" reordering their contacts the natural touch pressure you use to move contacts up or down the list, ends up "misfiring" the force touch mechanism which brings up a window where FaceTimimg people is a choice.
Actually the poster never said the word "during" in the post. But anyways, it's new, so it will take a few days to adjust but it'll become natural for most people.

Or adjust the sensitivity or turn it off. Simple enough.

Don't split hairs, Jomo. He said, "(while) trying to reorder my contacts".. Though he didn't actually say "while" - it's implied and "while"="during". There was only one way to understand the sentence and just admit you were "skimming".. We all do it sometimes...

I agree - people will take time to get used to it.

Nope. I wasn't skimming. I read it several times to make sure I understood what he claimed to be doing. Then went to contacts myself and tried to do it. I couldn't.

I guess I try not to assume words are there that aren't. If you read it without the "implied 'while' or 'during'", then it reads exactly as I understood it.

Anyways...

Dear Apple,
Why do you hate weather so much? 3D touch should work on the weather app and show the temp + high + low. Don't get fancy. I hate the way you present the weather to me now in the pull down. I miss iOS6 weather very much.

P.S. Yes I know there are other weather apps out there. For $1150 I should not have to download them. :/

It's just a a gimmick and basically and apple branded shortcut. If you need shortcuts to know what applications to go to and cannot be bothered opening them, then you have issues. It's a phone for goodness sake.

I've been playing around with it for a couple of days now and I don't feel like it's anything special... yet. I may well prove to be useful in the future, but I don't think there is much that's quicker at this point than actually just opening the app on the lightning fast new phones. For now anyway...

Well, it's a good thing that Huawei bought it out first on a phone then.

Is that the kind of thing that made your day? A copier rushing to the market to be the first with absolutely no thought whatsoever than just to be the first. My.. my.. what a pathetic life it must be...

How is 3D touch different from a long press? To be honest I think 3D touch is a gimmick because from what I have seen in videos I could achieve the same things from a long hold, and 3D touch is just a "long hold" because the length of time people hard push on the screen is similar to a long press without the extra mechanics and processing required to measure force. I also think a lot of the 3D touch interaction could be duplicated with a long press on older devices, even if you can't achieve feature parity.

I would have to use it in general practice to see if it's something beneficial as a user experience, but also what I am seeing is a potential for a lot of repetitive strain injuries seeing how hard people push to activate, even if that is not the phones fault, a lot of people are just going to assume they have to mash their finger hard into the phone to do 3D Touch.

Are you under 18? There is a huge population of baby boomer w disposable income and most don't know how to fix the time in a vcr
Are you under 18? You didn't understand or you misrepresented what I said. Of course there are many who don't know how to set the time. I see this every day. And they most definitely have issues when they try to use the technology of today in their daily lives. Many just give up and hope for the best. But ultimately, they don't fare as well as those capable of embracing the technology making the attempt to learn it and use it.

How is 3D touch different from a long press?

I thought we solved this weeks ago.

Long press has to do with time.

3D Touch has to do with pressure.

The iPhone 6S still has the ability to detect a long press. That control is still there. Long press on icons to make them wiggle and rearrange them on your home screen.

But you can also press harder and get additional controls on the 6S thanks to the sensors under the screen for 3D Touch.

Again... 3D Touch measures how hard you press the screen... not how long you press the screen.

Long press still works... 3D Touch is something extra.

I tried 3D touch in a T-Mobile store today. It took a little getting used to, but after that the home screen and pop functions were actually very intuitive. Switching apps seemed like a bit of a pain though (a four finger gesture would have been better IMO, not to mention more consistent with other Apple products) and I couldn't make sense of how to do the Live photos.
