The Raise to Speak feature, where you don't have to say "Hey Siri" anymore, doesn't work for me. Anybody else?
The official release notes mention features that are working yet in this beta version. This is one of them.

Needs to run iOS and all my apps. Needs a browser. Needs to be an iPhone on my wrist. I had high hopes for my series 3. I was sorely disappointed.

I don't wear it any more.

Edit: also LTE is essentially useless. Almost no developers added standalone capability to their watch apps. Without iPhone nearby it's garbage.

It's totally unacceptable to have a watch outdated so quickly! I'm one of the "stupid" people who originally spent $1000 for the Stainless model less than 3 years ago and now they are telling me it's out of date and unsupported for future software releases??? Forget about the people that forked out $15k. If that is how Apple treats people who invested for future models - count me out. 3 years later and the prices/support are even worse than how cell phones depreciates

Although a REAL watch like a Rolex or Patek doesn't do all of the tricks of the Apple Watches, at least they are well protected as the older they get, the more prestige, support and investment quality they become.

It doesn’t support latest updates as it would slow it down even more

A Rolex will do what your current SS does and that’s tell the time. SS will still look good no matter what

For those who folked out 15k well it’s hardly an issue as they can buy whatever they wish anyway

The lower models are beteeen £300-430 that’s hardly bad given what it can do and be used without your phone.

It’s why I would never buy the SS again if I was upgrade yearly

Your watch will still work just fine with iOS12 and your iPhone. You always take a risk buying first Gen anything, not just from Apple.

My guess is that there is little incentive to do so right now when sales of the cellular watch is still pretty small. Maybe in another 1-2 years once the number of such watches becomes more prevalent.

No that is false

All the main sport apps work fine on LTE and in watchOS5 it will allow for podcasts to be downloaded for LTE.

LTE was never meant to be a full on replacement for your phone. It was designed for general tasks when you head out or go for a run/bike rides etc so no it’s not garbage at all. It works Damn well while getting all your notifications.

Does the ‘2-way’ text appear in mid air whenever you use the walkie-talkie feature?
Great minds think alike I was thinking the same thing but you beat me to it have a great day.

I get your frustration. I also bought a 42 mm stainless steel when the watches first came out. However, I knew that the first generation of a whole new type of product wasn't going to last long. That's the way technology works, so Apple did what I expected.

It would be nice, however, if Apple made that more clear rather than assuming that people understand these things. For example, they could give some expectation of how long they expected to support it, and let people know that the insides could not be swapped out. Just in general, give a better indication so people would know what they were getting into.

Purely out of curiosity because it seems like MacRumors' stance on divulging the content of betas has changed compared to a few years back. Aren't you guys NDA'd? This is not a public beta afaik, right? Or is it because all these features were announced anyway? Genuinely wondering - not trying to sound smart.

That changed years ago when they introduced the public beta program. Since then, even the developer beta's are publicly discussed. Once they announced it, Apple doesn't care anymore.

You must not workout...like ever. I purchased mine exclusively for listening to music while I workout and now I wear it all the time. Love the subtle addictive features it has like following friends' workouts, vibrating before GPS turns, easily customizable bands, etc.

Watching these videos makes me nervous. Fiddling with this tiny screen, I can’t see the appeal. Still on the fence if I’ll ever buy one.
You should try one before becoming nervous about something you've never used.

It's worth noting that watchOS 5 is going to be limited to Series 1, Series 2, and Series 3 Apple Watch models. That means that it won't run on the original Apple Watch.
Already?? Well wtf... it’s only been 3 years. I was looking forward to this update. Meanwhile, iOS 12 goes back to the 5-year-old iPhone 5s...

How you mean already? The original watch was basically a prototype. Apple has learned a lot since then, therefore the “quick” obsolescence.

When are we going to get Spotify on our watch? I bought it for running as well but Apple Music interface is honestly just terrible and it's getting old transferring my playlists from Spotify -> Apple Music (even with automatic apps) and waiting for it to sync.

OS5 will allow 3rd party apps for music it seems
