Anyone noticing wild battery swings on WatchOS 5? My Series 3 LTE was at about 12% battery when I got to the office this morning. After putting it on the charger for about 1 hour now it's got a full charge. I don't believe that it filled up that quickly.

It's totally unacceptable to have a watch outdated so quickly! I'm one of the "stupid" people who originally spent $1000 for the Stainless model less than 3 years ago and now they are telling me it's out of date and unsupported for future software releases??? Forget about the people that forked out $15k. If that is how Apple treats people who invested for future models - count me out. 3 years later and the prices/support are even worse than how cell phones depreciates

Although a REAL watch like a Rolex or Patek doesn't do all of the tricks of the Apple Watches, at least they are well protected as the older they get, the more prestige, support and investment quality they become.

I’m pretty sure watchOS 4 won’t stop working once watchOS 5 comes out. You’ve had 3 major release updates compared to Rolex and Patek, what, zero updates? Now your SS watch is stuck doing only what it can do now, just like the “real” watches. I’m not sure I’m following your outrage.

Save your outrage for when your watch stops talking to the phone.

There is an error in logic in thinking of buying consumer electronics as investing.

My guess is that there is little incentive to do so right now when sales of the cellular watch is still pretty small. Maybe in another 1-2 years once the number of such watches becomes more prevalent.

I bought the LTE S3 watch. If I could do it all over again, I would not get the LTE version. First, I almost always carry my phone with me. Second, the few times I left my phone behind, you could actually watch the battery drain. In fact, I watched it drain 20% in just under 1 hour on LTE. Third, I just don't use the LTE all that often, as like I said before, I usually have my phone with me or I am on WiFi. Fourth, the cost with the carrier, $20 (including taxes, etc) is kind of steep for a watch that I don't use the LTE on.

I believe it's documented that the S3 watch only takes 2 hours to fully charge. I could be wrong. I am not sure what kind of activity you do with your watch, but my S3 LTE only uses up about 35-40% of the battery in a 24 hour period. I wear it to bed to track my sleeping with Auto Sleep. I charge for 1 hour in the morning, more than enough time to recharge the 35-40% that needs to be done. I don't have WatchOS5 yet, so I cannot comment on what it's like with me on that version of the OS.

I seem to have about the same usage as you do. Maybe even a bit more lately as we've been moving from our current home. I've had it drop about 35% in a day. I'll see if this most recent beta has any effect on battery.
