iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 13 mini are glad the 2022 iPhone SE has taken the attention off them. šŸ¤£
The 2022 SE looks like the 2020 SE, the 13 looks like the 12.

Hmm, a touch-screen iPhone looks like a previous touch-screen iPhone?

Why is that bad again? What directions could Apple possibly take it next to appease customers and analysts with short attention spans and eyes that can only see the next shiny thing. The iPhone Fingertip Cap? The iPhone Batting Helmet? Oh what, how about the iPhone dial-a-phone you leave at home on a table, to complement your iPhone 19 that yawningly looks like the iPhone 16?

I don't think that is a bad iPhone for the money even though I feel they should have eaten the extra $29. I do think that they should have done a redesign to bring it more in line with the rest of the iPhone lineup. An iPhone mini with a single camera system, LCD screen and possibly TouchID in the power button would have been well worth a $499 price point.

If they offered more interesting colors it would sell better. Yes, people are that shallow that a new color can make a phone feel fresh. :D

In any case, I will probably get one because I'm down to about 2 hours of screen time with my 2016 SE @ 82% battery capacity.

Just like "save the manuals" for cars, we need a "save the touch ID/home button" for iPhones!

Where I live the 2022 SE is $570. The iPhone 11 is $600. Both prices are with with tax included. My mother has the 1st gen SE and my father has a 6S Plus. Mom wants a bigger display and dad is happy with the 6S Plus size. If the 2022 SE would have been a "Plus" size Apple would have sold 2 more phones.

What a lazy clickbait title. MR know the demographic for the SE and could easily have said 'Apple's Most Inexpensive Smartphone.

More than likely I'll go for the SE to replace my iPhone 6, when it comes time to upgrade.

If anyone plans on keeping it for 7 years, they'll need to figure in a couple of battery replacements..
Are the SEs bad for battery life? I've had my iPhone 6 since it came out in 2014 and I still get a full day from a charge.

2014 (iPhone 6)

Not that I think designs are bad just because they are old. Iā€™m actually very fond of the even older 5/SE1 design.
If that one had been waterproof I would still be using it. The only reason I got the SE2 was to get a waterproof phone. I sacrificed on size which I really don't like in any of the new phones. A waterproof phone with modern guts and the body of the SE1? yes please.

I get more than a full day on my SE2 without a problem.

"The new ā€ŒiPhone SEā€Œ is equipped with the latest A15 chip, which is an upgrade over the A13, though it's hard to tell a difference in terms of day to day usage. Apps and games perform about the same, but the A15 chip will make a difference several years from now as Apple develops new versions of iOS and new features that require more processing power."

Alright... I'll bite. What app on an iPhone are people running that needs anything more than.. checks my iPhone... an A10? I don't think it exists.

If the camera is not important, and weight a bigger consideration, I think this is the phone to get. Likely five or more years of OS updates... and $890 CAD as opposed to $1740 CAD in the same capacity 13 Pro.

This "review" reads like it's just sad trolling for clicks.
Did Apple ever promise the SE would be a revolutionary product? NO. So why are some people acting as if it's some disappointment?
The review actually fleshes this out pretty clearly.

ā€œFrom the perspective of Apple enthusiasts who look forward to the latest and greatest each year, the ā€ŒiPhone SEā€Œ is a disappointing phone, but that's not who it's for. Apple made the ā€ŒiPhone SEā€Œ for the people who don't care about phones, those who just want a smartphone that's fast, simple, reliable, and most importantly, cheap.ā€

Exactly! If everyone was honest, at least half of us would be fine with the SE. Lackluster? Maybe, but so is my 10 year old wallet. It serves me well and I have no need for anything newer.
I like your analogy. And thatā€™s kind of what this phone is, is just a reliable and simplistic phone for a consumer that isnā€™t interested in spending $1000 for XYZ reasons.

If you think about it, this phone will totally pay for itself, especially when it will receive about five years of iOS updates and itā€™s in a very mature platform with touch ID, it really is the perfect phone for those who understand that this isnā€™t geared to be a contender against the more expensive smart phones on the market.

Had a look as a replacement for wife's iPhone 8, however I think that the 5G capability isn't as beneficial as a bigger screen would be. There is no 5G around us currently so we can wait a year or so for a cheaper large screen 5G phone
