you would THINK a review would say how they sound compared to other headphones. For example, the AKG K240 sells for about $60 and is an industry-standard and has been for about 40 years. How do they compare?

You would think they would talk about the effectiveness of the noise reduction system too.

For $300 these should beat most other well-known headphones in terms of sound quality and be VERY effective a canceling noise but we don't know if this is the case by reading this review.

But... they’re blue.

But how does the ANC compare to the top Sony and Bose cans?
Well as a Bose QC 35 owner I’d recommend you check out the owner outrage at what Bose has done in June about ruining the ANC in their QC 35 I and II line with a software update and since then absolutely no response to customers. I’m hoping Apple and Sony come up with awesome ANC so I can dump Bose and their shady practices.

Eric, is it possible to use these headphones with a wired audio cable? Could you test them with Apple’s lightning to 3.5mm adapter?

The pricing is comical for what you are getting here. Why anyone would choose these over Bose or Sony is beyond me.

You’re kidding me right? There are 500+ Apple Stores. Apple is a global and very popular consumer brand. People also see it as luxury. Apple sees more foot traffic than many other brands. People are going to see colorful Beats that sound decent and are worn by athletes and BUY BUY BUY.

It’s a wonder how any of you even understand Apple or the average consumer.

When I look at those headphones it gives me the impression of a cheap plastic set you'd buy for a child. That matte blue isn't helping and maybe they look better in person, but the pair i use to own felt like cheap plastic, too.

I spent a few extra bucks for B&W PX, and the sound and feel is 10x better, not to mention USB-C like everyone else in the world. Lightning to USB-A, Apple?? Really???

My sentiments exactly. When I first skimmed the article, I thought it was going to describe a new budget range of Beats headphones (”unapologetically plastic”). Stunned to see they cost $300? It’s funny, Beats seem to be the only Apple product where they seem to make no effort whatsoever to make them look stunning or at least make them look like they might be good (even if they aren’t). I make no judgement on the sound quality as I have never listened to a pair; it is not a brand I have any interest in at all - I think I’m probably 30 years too old to carry it off in these garish colours!

Your statement is nonsense.

You're better off purchasing headphones from a professional audio company like Sennheiser. Depending on what you're looking for, you may find what you want costs much less; and with unbelievably better quality sound. Their main products are for the professional audio market, but their consumer focused products are excellent as well.

100% agree, the likes of Sennheiser, B&W etc. make stunning high (sound) quality products that also actually look stunning (in the eyes of the beholder of course)

If this was USB-C only charging allot less people would buy them, as Apple users except everyone to use the latest and greatest...in doses.

You cater for the majority, not the minority that will bring in the cash. However a USB-C adapter would have been good :)

They've got the bling market covered... anybody who wants to tell the world they spent $$$ on a set of headphones will want a pair.

Personally, I'm happy with my no frills wireless JVC flats headphones. They sound great and I doubt anybody's gonna mug me for them. Also if they break or get lost, I won't be crying that much.

Agreed. I foolishly bought a pair of Beats solo 3 once because I bought the hype. Those died for various reasons, and I tried the Bose QC35 II. The sound quality is dramatically better. The microphone quality is dramatically better. Noise cancellation too.

I'm told people buy Beats for the name. I don't get where that reputation comes from.

The H1 chip and ‘fast fuel charge’ with 10 minutes of charging is equivalent to three hours of usage would probably sell me, but I’m just not really into the ‘beats brand’ personally. But I think these are a perfect setting for the gym, but I probably would just venture on with Sony or Bose for that matter personally.

I'm happy with my Beats Studio 3s, they sound better to me than my previous headphones (Audio-technica M50s and Bose QC35 II), I wish they had a lightning port instead of micro-USB though. Hopefully the Studio 4s will be a good upgrade.

Lmaooo my statement is nonsense? Yet I see pairs of Beats all over NYC. How exactly is my statement nonsense? What does that make YOUR statement?

People are buying Beats. End of story. The average consumer that buys Apple doesn’t care about all of the fancy bells and whistles that tech savvy folks like.

Your best response is my statement is nonsense? Give me a break.

Thank you. You get it. Some people on this forum are so out of touch and are so one sided. It’s incredibly sad.

My wireless powerbeats pro headphones are a huge $250 disappointment. I feel like I can’t trust beats brand, apple, or any of the websites that gave them glowing reviews.
I looooove mine. Everything about them so far. I've owned... many headphones over the years.
