Amazing...a whole day has gone by and availability of the 128GB and 256Gb version are still available for pickup at every Apple Store within 200 miles of my zip code.

The first time that something new didn't sell out in hours!

How bout this, I was at two different Apple stores at open the last two days. There was literally no interest with this phone.

To be fair it really isn't new though and therein lies one problem. And I truly feel the color combo wrecked it for some people too.

Fail on not noticing the only other difference is that the coloured marker in the mute switch is white when on mute, instead of red. Obvious reason why...
I noticed this too. Makes me believe the silver ring for Touch ID was intentional.

Someone else said something about using left over silver iPhone's to make these. The fact that the ring is silver makes me think this is true.
I thought so too. Until I bought one and noticed the mute switch indicator is white instead of red.

Apple's new (PRODUCT)RED iPhone 7 and 7 Plus went on sale online and in retail stores around the world today, and after a short wait in line, we managed to get our hands on one of the new devices.

Made from a matte red aluminum, the red iPhone 7 is super pigmented and bright in real life, but aside from its snazzy new casing, it's identical to existing devices. Check out the video below for our detailed look at Apple's first red iPhone.

The new red iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus can be purchased from the online Apple Store and in retail locations, where supplies seem to be plentiful. There were lines at many stores around the country, however, so it could potentially sell out.

Prices for the red iPhone 7 start at $749, with the device available in 128 and 256GB capacities. Pricing for the red iPhone 7 Plus starts at $869.

The new iPhone 7 and 7 Plus are available in the United States and dozens of other countries today, and by the end of March, the device will be available in more than 40 countries and regions.

Looks great except you need a dongle to use real headphones with it.

As you said it's not new. Why rush out and buy one of these "new" models today when the only thing that is actually new is the color? The next truly new model will be out in 6 months and everbody knows it. The only way I'd buy an iPhone 7 at this point in the product's lifecycle would be if my phone was lost, stolen or damaged and I didn't have insurance to replace it.

If you want a red iPhone 7 in this color why not wait 6 months and get it at a reduced cost once the 7s/8 lineup is released?

In the video "This is an iPhone 7 and you get all the same features"....no it isn't...why does the original iPhone 7 have a dual-lens camera and this red iPhone 7 doesn't?

Now I'm curious if the red iPhones sold in China still has the product(RED) stamp on it? Anyone have a hands on or pic of the phones in one of the Chinese stores? Not only does the Chinese website not make any mention of product(RED) whatsoever, they also cropped all the photos or repositioned the phones so as to cover up the area that has the product(RED) stamp.

A logical assumption would be that references to anything (RED) could locally be interpreted as Communist, Mao-Tse-Tung inspired, which will have its implications en consequences in a country that considers itself to have been liberated from that.
There are places in the world that Think Differently from Americans. Startling but inevitable.

This should be really popular in China reversing the sales drop.
Indeed, kudo's for the Mao generation

I think many of these posts might miss the whole point of HIV/AIDS awareness and (Product)RED's decade of contribution to The Global Fund.

I think people are more just responding to the absurdity of an "unboxing" video for a new color.

How many original iPhone 7/7+ purchasers would have opted for the red one had it been available at the time? More money could have gone to the cause. Anodizing the body a different color is nothing special. They could have had them ready at launch. But Apple would have had to let go of more of their precious profits.

Nobody is going to buy two new phones just so they can switch the logic board and front face. Buy the phone because you believe in AIDS awareness and prevention (or prefer red), or leave it at the door because you don't like the color combination. Next article, please!

Apple innovation at its pinnacle!

Meanwhile, the LG G6 is out, the Samsung S8 is imminent and even the major Chinese brands like Huawei are beating Apple in terms of image quality and features.

And Android 7 is pulling noticeably ahead of iOS (yep, I do use both daily).

I guess Tim and the gang need bigger bonuses....

... Buy the phone because you believe in AIDS awareness and prevention....

Probably a lot better to donate the money directly to the charity of your choice, like the AIDS Healthcare Foundation.

A direct donation would help more, plus it would get you a tax deduction :)

This color thing is mostly a shameless marketing ploy to make you feel better while buying another Apple product at a higher price, near the end of its shelf-life.

Or just put a $50 red case on the one you have.

That's what I have never gotten. Why would they even offer colors on these things if EVERYBODY puts a case on it anyway? They're not even survivable in the wild without a case. They should cut costs, come out with a different color face option (black or white) and call it a day.

I hoping something like this. Please Apple make my dreams come true! But I have a feeling if Apple were to release a blue iPhone it would be the same kind of blue that is on the mophie's battery case.

Come on Apple, give us a blue iPhone in September. :D

Honestly what does it matter? I've rarely see a naked iphone in the wild; almost everyone uses a case (they come in red too! :))
