It's too bad, if the iPad had a kickstand there would be no need for monstrosities such as this.

Why would anyone buy an iPad + keyboard when you can get a MacBook Air???
Software would be #1, Pen, 5G, better screen, higher color, more resolution, 120hz, wide and ultra wide camera with true depth, stabilization, lighting, better microphones, iBeacon, Face ID, better memory management, LiDAR, accelerometer, 3-axis gyro, barometer. And for my use case, everything seems a lot quicker, especially 3rd party apps. And yes I have a Macbook Air M1 too.

That is really heavy for a keyboard and trackpad. We now have entire 13" laptops that weigh less than this.
Your out of ultra portable territory at 3.6-7 lbs.

Now if it didn't wobble, that would be one thing. But at this price, no way.
At least they got the magnetic attachment right.

Because a lot of the time I don’t need a keyboard/trackpad on my ipad, and i prefer the convenience of being able to leave it behind. Or I prefer the simplicity and security of ios. Or i like being able to use Apple Pencil. Or i like the touch screen. etc. etc.

Since we would still attach a keyboard at the front, the result would be something like the Logitech case currently on offer and mentioned in an article yesterday.

Once MacOS can be installed on the ipad Pro I suspect quite a few (myself included) would. My main PC has been a tablet with a keyboard the Lenovo X1 Tablet Gen 3
Apple has been adamant about that not happening.

Does anyone know if it's possible to use these keyboards (or the Magic Keyboard) with a Mac (say, a Mini or an iMac)?

Thanks!
I'm typing this response to your question with last year's 12.9 Brydge model that has the smaller trackpad. I was able to use it with my old iMac and am now using my new Mac mini M1 / LG display. I'm really glad to see Brydge getting away from their earlier clamp style of connecting to the iPad, especially with the thicker more expensive to repair 12.9 Pro. I'll definitely get this new one when I get my next iPad Pro 12.9. The review product had a wobbly display. Hopefully the production versions will correct that (not an issue with my previous Brydge keyboards).

I can actually understand the keyboard part (for times when you just want to do a lot of typing) but a huge trackpad!? The trackpad might be more convenient if you want to move around with your thumbs without lifting from the keyboard, but if you're gonna take your hands off and wholesale swab away using the real estate why not just do it on the screen itself where you have direct visual feedback?

$250??? Please tell me they still aren't using clips and bluetooth still.

I actually think I might be wrong... I think the brand new one they might have gone back to it being detachable again! Mine is non-detachable.
I saw in another thread yesterday that it was redesigned and once again detachable. Going to their site I found this;

They have a video with it detaching.

Apple was also adamant about web apps being good enough up until they opened the App Store.

Apple was also adamant about sticking with small phones, until they released the 6 Plus.

Apple says a lot of things they later change their minds on.
Thank you.

I don’t know how many times things like this have to be mentioned. I’m guessing a bunch more before the great meteor hits. 🙄

Yeah that's not a bad case, but it still adds significant thickness. The built in kickstand on the surface pro is extremely thin and only takes up half the device, the other half's very slightly increased thickness could be used for a bit more battery. Sure it's a small trade off for a few mm of thickness, but IMO a kickstand should be on every single tablet.

The 3rd party case I liked the most was the Zaag ProKeys.

It only says 10.2" iPad support, but it used to be available for the 11" iPP and Air; you can see an 11" in one of the product shots. I wonder if they are retooling it so it will support a sightly thicker 11" if it also gets Mini LED.

OK, this thing looks great and looks like they addressed all issues with the previous one (attachment method, trackpad sensitivity). Looks like a winner and likely what I’ll get if/when I get a new 2021 12.9.

What I want to know is, is the trackpad less wonky on the MAX+ keyboard compared to the Pro+?
He covered that in the video - said that not only is the Brydge trackpad huge, but it’s also perfectly-responsive and supports all gestures as expected.

Great looking product and should have come out last year when the Magic Keyboard. The Magic Keyboard, unfortunately for everyone else, is damn close to perfect. It’s so well thought out for what it does.
Really? No function keys, small trackpad, hard to use in your lap, and you can’t set it to any angle you like on a flat surface because it will fall over. And that’s damn close to perfect?
