Extremely ugly. Hoping 2020 brings a phone I actually want to buy. Gone are the days of upgrading my phone every two years.

That camera bump is getting out of hand. The way it encroaches on the Apple logo is ugly AF.

A row of cameras across the top would look way better, but I’m guessing they can’t do that because of the sensors required for the front-facing notch. In other words: the notch strikes again!

I ain't going near that, neither won't even think of buying it if they don't offer something completely new with it. sure drop these kinda hints everywhere and hope for the best. if i'm not impressed, im going back to an android imao because unless this version has some new features that will outshine the google's horde of devices.. especially the camera MEH.

So it‘s a 3 year cycle now instead of 2 years until redesign?

6 6s 7 -> redesigned X
X XS XI -> redesigned 12?

Like the 7 those new ones will have different colors and a different lens, that‘s it.

I don't know what's worse, this square tumor or another year with an unchanging notch.

Thanks Tim for turning the formerly dependable iPhone redesign/production cycle into a tick-tock-tock-tock model. With all that tooling stinginess he might as well bring back the Newton.

M.R. picks up a story about prototype iPhone cases and does a 'hands-on' with the sliver of plastic, or was it actually hands-on with an image of the plastic cut-out? Then pose the question: 'What do you think of the design of the 2019 iPhones? Let us know in the comments.' Predictably the M.R. resident army of nay-sayers respond with three pages of negativity. It had us laughing our socks off. :)

Another happy 6S user here, although having the 16GB model does cause issues with the amount of apps that get offloaded due to all the diags and logs that iOS13 beta is creating.

However, what would make me upgrade would be a big bump (haha!) in camera tech. Low-light photography is something I've missed since selling all my SLR gear a few years ago, along with a decent wide angle lens. As I seem to be rubbish at taking selfies and am refusing to buy a selfie-stick, a wider angled front camera would be great, too.

my 6S will last another year longer

I just recently got a new battery for my iPhone 6S. Upgraded from iOS 10 to iOS 12.3.1. It's a disaster battery-wise. Instead of literally going all day, I have to recharge at noon during my lunch break, and in the evening. This means I need to recharge it 2-3 times per day (that's 3-4 hours hooked to a wall outlet or my MacBook Pro during the day).

Apple really knows how to kill their "old" devices. Total scam.

If it takes amazing pics bring it on...don’t think the bump will be as bad as expected but will see

IPhone 6s does exactly what I need and that fast and reliable. No need to upgrade here. And the new design makes me wanna womit and no it didn’t grow on my since the day it got released. I loved Apple in the Jobs area for its design but those days are unfortunately gone. Again, I use my 6s until it quits it service forever and then maybe upgrade to an 8 until thy have a bigger design overhaul without those Micky Mouse ears.

I found the 6s to be past it two years ago when I got the 8. If it’s enough for you cool but its very dated now.

If I had a 6s I may hold out another year too.

I have a 6 though and a 5c I occasionally use for work. They both need an upgrade.

The question is, do I just upgrade the 6 to 11 (or whatever it called) and use the 6 as my work phone, or do I upgrade both of them.

AT&T has been doing a buy one get one the last two years and its possible I could get two phones for the price of one.

Hmmmnnn - seems like there is something wrong travelsheep - besides iOS12. What you're seeing isn't normal. Have 2 relatives, close by (that I'm tech support for) with 6s's, both got new batteries last year (while Apple was offering $25 ones) and it totally rejuvenated the phones like they are new (runtime wise) with iOS 12. They're going easily to 2020 fall replacement (just because security updates will probably stop then). I'd take it in to an Apple Store and let them see what they can find. JMHO

That's an interesting question there. One thing to note - the AT&T deal often requires a new line (my buddy across from me at work got 2 X's last year that way, but new line for one of them for his son). Since security updates will stop I'd move off both if I could. If you can't get a buy one get one, to save a few $$$, you could get an Xr (or wait a few months and get the Xr follow on) and pick up a used 8 on eBay and have Apple put a new battery in it after you get it, for the work phone. It'll last a good long while and you'll have future replacements split up.

What Apple really needs to fix is a major video issue that has been going on for years now. I have a 6 and when you put that phone on a tripod to record video it is rock solid. I bought a 7 because the camera was supposed to be better and then a X for the same reason. Nope neither one is any good on a tripod. If there is even a slight vibration the video images shakes so bad the footage is useless. For example try and record a school play with a tripod. if the floor of the auditorium is wood and someone walks or taps their foot the image vibrates so bad it is unusable. I tried all the different video apps and even contacted Filmic Pro and they said they are aware but that it was the phone and nothing softwarewise could correct it.
