There's a market for everything. I was once passing through the Dubai airport, you know, a land of oil riches? Anyways, one of the shops in the airport had an outrageous display of rebuilt iPhones just like this, except instead of aluminum or titanium we're talking about all sorts of exotic materials studded with diamonds and other gems, etc. $7K is high, but only about half the price of the iPhones I saw there.

I'd actually be embarrassed to be seen with one of these, never mind confess how much I'd paid for it.

PT Barnum nailed it. Every minute.

I’ve seen some bad products in my time, but most are because they’re cheap.

This is quite possibly the most ridiculous waste of money I’ve ever seen. It’s worse in every conceivable way.

This is absolute rubbish, a complete waste of money and totally impractical. The screen cover contraption would drive me crazy. If I got this for free I would put it in the garbage.

It had better be indestructible. I thought the Cybertruck was dumb until I found the reason for its weird design, using stronger non-car metal on a car, then I thought it was much cooler than all of Tesla's other cars.

pretty sure we're looking at another Escobar phone here. why do I get the feeling you're never going to see one after laying out thousands of dollars?

Also, this is the second time I've seen the glass on the back cracked. MKBHD's broke too, clearly this thing has some engineering... challenges.

Final thought -- why didn't they just sell it as a case? They didn't actually take the iphone apart and give it a new housing, this is literally just wrapped around the exterior of an iPhone. So strange.

My first question after seeing this, how is the cellular and WiFi reception? Has to be diminished.
I assume it's not built for that

Hilarious design for a 7k item branded as "caviar".
Agree. Of course :)
Some of those customers might don't give a #### about design, they just want to show they have spent 7k for something...
Most of us might never share their feelings and motivations.

The real problem might be that you could actually bring a lot of good things into the world with 7k. You could help starving people, for example. Or you could donate money against injustice.

Such customers make a conscious decision not to do so and they know and like to show.
Like it or not... that's the price for freedom, which also allows for such excesses.

For once one of these ultra priced iPhones actually looks pretty cool, I like it. I would just have to not eat for a few months after buying it and sell the dog.
