I for one am glad Kensington released this, at this price point - because it made me think "I want this" followed by... "no, I want something like this at a way more acceptable price".

And I found it... $30 for a magnetic stand that works beautifully.
$0 to continue using my USB-C dock solution, with a single cable to plug into my iPad handling power, ethernet and any USB peripherals I fancy.

I’m gonna have to second that link, ‘cause that looks nice.

Just because a company can shamelessly copy another companies design does not mean they can copy the excessive price gouging of its customers like said company is capable of doing. Apple uses better materials regardless of how much that may add to the price of the product. Kensington can't just copy the price without also giving us the fit and finish that justifies the higher prices. If they charged $500 to hold up one of apples new displays then it wouldn't seem so bad.

I think it looks really cool. I'd pay $200 for it. I'll wait a year and hunt it on eBay.

As others have pointed out, you can make a docking station - albeit not nearly as cool looking - for a fraction of the cost.

Just thought I'd throw this one out there, it's a stand I bought for my iPad Pro 12.9 and I love it, use it everyday. Both for sidecar, and stand alone with mouse and KB.

That’s pretty small screen to be using as essentially a desktop replacement. I would just buy an iMac for something like this.
Not to mention an iMac would probably be cheaper if you factor in the $400 price for this stand to an iPad Pro

Considering both price and height, I'd say this item is "well-positioned" for spendthrifts eager to have a sore neck.

You guys laughing at this just don't get the point.

Yes, an 'iPad Pro' costs $1,000, the Apple keyboard $100 more, the Apple trackpad $150 more and this dock $400 more, making a total of $1650... but it's a PRO SETUP!!!! FOR REAL POWER USERS WHO PRO OUT!!!

If there only was a way of achieving the same level (and even a higher level) of usability at a considerably lower cost... :(

Not sure if you're being sarcastic, but if not ... there ARE several products (pointed out by posters on this thread before you) that seem to achieve the 'same level of usability at a considerably lower cost'. :)

It never ceases to amaze me the hoops people will jump through to make the iPad into something it's not.

Most people who put their ipad on a stand would also want a keyboard and trackpad. These aren't included with the kensington dock, right?

Not sure I want my apple watch dangling from the side of my mounted ipad pro.

For under $100, you could buy a really good, sturdy, adjustable iPad stand and a dongle-style USB-C hub with power pass through.

Thanks.
Would love to order one, but Google translate didn't help much.

Are you ordering one?

I have one. It works beautifully. Magnets hold the ipad in place both through my ESR folio (although this looks a bit ugly, as the cover part has nowhere to go really... then again, I could turn my iPad 180 degrees and have the usb port on the left. I didn't think of that before now) or naked when I take it off my doqo keyboard.

Wow. Quite the discount from the Kensington!
Certainly a great alternative price wise and if you don't need the wireless charging.
And it has a $28 coupon here in the US. Just ordered it, we'll see. With the discount it's literally almost 10% (!!!) of the cost of the Kensington one. Surely it's not as nice, but that's a remarkable price difference.

I actually get plenty of "real" work done on my iPad. But nonetheless $400 for a rotating stand and a USB hub is too much. Yes, it has two wireless chargers on the base, but still way more expensive than it should be. And even if somehow the device did justify its $400 price tag, $400 is far too much for an iPad accessory (nearly 50% the price of the iPad that goes in to it).

Agree. I find myself using my iPad Pro with Affinity Designer more than Photoshop on my MacBook Air. Once you know where all the controls are it becomes fully capable studio software.

That stand is dope. The forward angle makes it better than this one, in my opinion.

I hope Apple builds one with the charging mechanism on the Magic Keyboard, so we don't have wires hanging off the side of the iPad when docked.
The Magic Keyboard does have a charge port on it; down at the hinge. Doesn't work with USB-C accessories, though (charge only). Unless you mean something else...?

Guys; an honest review here... I got the device yesterday. Today, after 40min with Kensignton support, I decided to return it. I really wanted to love it but couldn't.

I have, what I believe is Apple's recommended monitor for iPad Pro since I'm a heavy user, the LG 24MD4KL.
The "StupidDock" does not accept video through USB C in 2021, and to make matters worse, after trying 2 different adapters (HDMI to USBC) the monitor never worked.
I also noticed that height adjustment is a noticeable issue, ergonomically speaking, after a couple of hours.
Returning.
