This is a really nice keyboard case, much nicer than the $349 one. Although they serve different purposes IMO. The Apple one is more like a desktop dock, this one is much more mobile oriented. The weight/thickness are the only things that kill it. I still think an ipad with a kickstand would be amazing and resolve pretty much all of these issues.

I hope Logitech is working on a 2018/2020 Pro version.

I would probably buy it depending on price.

Aren't these cases "official" 3rd party products though? I'm guessing Apple/Logitech have an agreement where Apple makes the Pro keyboard case (Magic Keyboard) and Logitech makes the normal iPad keyboard case.

Maybe it's just a timed agreement though and we'll get one sometime soon.

Nice idea with absolutely **** quality (a keyboard with random keys not working!).

Sounds about right for Logitech

Read the update by MacRumors. This was an issue in Settings not a hardware issue. Resolved.

Likely depends on how far back you need to tilt the kickstand.

Your right. But, on an airplane you probably want the screen tilted back significantly, since you are sitting so close to the table in the cramped seats with very little distance between seats fore and aft.

I am curious if this keyboard have the same problem as the previous Logitech Slim Folio. When you open up the keyboard wont respond and you have to manually disconnect screen with keyboard to get the keyboard to light up and work again. Pretty irritating! I read one review on this new keyboard that remarked just the same issue.

I’ve been using it quite a bit since yesterday, and this still happens sometimes. But then again I would regularly have that same problem with my Apple Smart Keyboard Case too. It seems to be more of an iPad problem than a keyboard problem. TBH it seems to be happening a little less with the Logitech keyboard than it did with my Apple one, but it may be too early to tell.

I can't believe there is no comment on the weight of this case on the original article. I've heard it's pretty heavy. Can anyone please comment on this?

Also, does it drain significantly the battery of the iPad? or not? any clues?

Yep, case is heavy. I actually don't use it. I just bought it for the keyboard/trackpad (still cheaper than MSRP for official Apple Smart Keyboard).

I just use keyboard/trackpad combo along with my normal case:

I only need it for the office so haven't had the chance to test battery life.

This encapsulates why I don’t like kickstands. Fine if you don’t use on your lap, but that‘s a huge portion of my personal usage. I use a Surface for work, it’s poor on the lap, although not as wobbly as the Logitech looks in this video.

Been using the Magic Keyboard all day on my lap, it’s great and, crucially, stable.

Only thing it lacks is a function row, but in all other regards the best iPad keyboard experience I’ve ever had, and I’ve tried them all (Brydge, Logitech etc. Logitechs have been good. Not a fan of Brydge at all).

Can you share pics of this setup? Does your case allow you to use the keyboard WITHOUT taking it off?

I’ve ordered an iPad 7 for my 80 year old gran. I’d like to order her this case. I’m wondering though, how much of this keyboard case’s weight is the keyboard itself and how much is the back cover. Has anyone/would you weigh them separately for me?

Yep, no need to take off the case. I actually need the case on to use as stand.

Mind, while it's not really possible to reduce the angle of the iPad, it's possible to increase it/make it straighter by putting something between the back shell and the cover stand (I used Post-It pads).

Good to know it will work with some other cases! Helpful pics!
I prefer to use folio cases for both screen and back protection while lugging in my purse. However, I hated having to remove my old case when I wanted to use the ASK. I stumbled on the Khomo since they also sell plain back shells that work with the ASK. When I checked their other cases, I saw this folio case stand which looked like it had the same wide opening as their back shells.

It's actually pretty difficult to find a case that has a big enough opening for the Smart Connector. The demarcation between bezel and display is your guide. The length of the Smart Connector is roughly the same as the length of the display. You want a case with an opening that's as long as the display.

Mind the connector for the Logitech is ever so slightly shorter compared to the connector on the ASK. That's the reason it works even on my Pro 9.7 where the connector for the 10.5 ASK wouldn't fit.
