I prefer the 2 screens rather than the big fold mark down the middle. However I still don't see what problem these devices solve. They're huge phones and small tablets. Neither of which is good. Netbook v2.

This reminds me of Microsoft's Zune media player launched in 2006. Hardware wise, it was much, much nicer than Apple's iPod. However, Zune's software was horrible whereas Apple's software functionality was very good which carried Apple to the top of the media player play list. Whoever designs Microsoft's hardware are outstanding engineers and product designers - better than a lot of Apple hardware. Just wish MSFT would invest a little more software development.

The MS DUO is different. I have yet to see 'Google Assistant' on any of the display views, so that's interesting. Even though I've been using Apple products for decades, I have been looking for something a bit more innovative. I already know I won't buy another MacBook series, but I'm still all-in with everything else, for now.

We’re getting into a territory of asking can we do it, rather than should we do it. This device isn’t a practical phone or a practical table. One the novelty of it wears out, you’re left with a two-screen compromise. If you’re the romantic type and enjoy the occasional walk down the memory lane, those fat bezels will serve you well.

No thanks. I already had one of these.

I don’t wish bad on Microsoft, but I don’t foresee this being a smash runaway hit. It looks cool tbh and I want to play with one, buttt I just know Apple will do it better Lol.

It seems like MS is hoping to go back to a time when people buy devices as work-only or work-primary because they need it for very specific work-related uses. Maybe they’ll get some people to go there, but I think Apple’s approach of having the ability to shift from one device to another, iPhone to iPad to MacBook Pro to iMac, while working on the same Pages or Numbers file makes more sense.

At least to me it makes sense, because it’s how I’ve been working. I don’t want a single device to do everything I need to do, although the iPad Pro is close to perfect, I know I’m not going to carry it like a phone when that is what I actually need.

I do like how their device looks and it seems like it has a quality build, which is a good sign for MS at least doing something right with it. The software integration between MS and Android on the other hand makes it look like it’s an early beta build.

This is cooler than I thought it'd be. Still not for me, but I think there will be enough enterprise takers that it will have some legs, especially for those entities already distributing larger Surface devices.

I think the biggest issues have to do with the concept of a folding device itself:

One, what happens when that clamshell gets closed with something in between the two screens? Seems like two relatively fragile touchscreens are gonna get hurt if anything larger than a grain of sand is in there - especially if you're snapping it closed with one hand.

Two, folding it "open" to use it like a phone puts one of the touchscreens in a precarious spot. It's going to be a smudge magnet at best. It's one thing to make the back of your iPhone a pretty much sacrificial piece of glass - quite another thing entirely to use a vital touchscreen as the "back."

It will be interesting to see how the concept of a folding device like this gets improved over time...

I lol’d at the video timestamp 2:35 or so when he was trying to get to the home screen by swiping up and it totally glitches out and then crashed 😂 the little “wut” at the top got me haha.

I think I'd find it frustrating to use. I always have an iPhone in my shirt or jeans pocket when I'm out and about. And an iPad for when I'm at home relaxing on the couch. A folding device would not serve either of those situations for me.
