I used to commute on a train and have both my iPhone and Nexus 7 in my pockets. The idea of a device that could reliably be both is exciting to at least me.

So it clearly isn't the best implementation, yet. At least they are trying something different and testing it in the market will soon tell them whether they are on the right track or not and whether they should bother to continue trying to refine.

I realise that on here unless Apple does it, it is automatically garbage, but people should consider broadening their minds and seeing the possibilities once in a while.

I personally think it's cool. Would I buy one sure but not at that cost and not until it can handle more abuse than what I currently can take now. But hey you have to start somewhere and this is it and can only get better from here. On a side note my store got a demo note since we have a Samsung shop and our Samsung rep has already gotten scratches on the screen from just the lint in his pocket and unlike the hairline scratches we get on glass phones his you can actually feel in the screen. Yes it's just the screen protector but since you can't replace it the scratches are there permently.

Folding phones may well become a thing one day but this is a device that should be back in development for at least another 5 years. But Samsung (and everybody else) seem hell bent on trying to out-innovate Apple without stopping to think about why we don’t see daft phone concepts from Apple every year.

Does Foldable displays in the future offer a different experience for the consumer? I think it does. But the price point that Samsung is offering, is probably out of reach for the majority. I think foldable displays will be a short-lived fad.

What I think is the future is not foldable displays, I think the AR glasses is the next ‘big thing’ probably coming from Apple, I don’t see them venturing into the foldable display era, there’s really no tangible benefit here.

this phone isn’t about 6-8 years ahead of it’s time. The struggle that they experienced with it is part of the normal boundary breaking process. Small incremental updates won’t get us there.

Everyone can say what they want, but the bottom line is that Samsung was INNOVATIVE with this design. Something that Apple hasn't done in about a decade. I would never buy this device, but it is advancing technology. Now, I'd be down for a folding phone on the horizontal plane. Essentially like a flip phone. Make the iPhone Max Pro foldable and I would be all over that.

It's weird to me that when it's closed it looks like a a really mediocre phone, so it's practically begging you to open it every time you want to use it. If I had to pull out my iPad Mini to "use my phone" I'd find it really annoying.

I wouldn’t touch this particular device, but why would you pull out your iPad Mini to make a phone call, send or read a text, listen to music, jot down a Reminder or a note, or look at your calendar....these tasks are made for the smaller front screen. In fact, as someone who carries both an SE (for calls, texts, music, CarPlay, and the occasional photo) and an iPad Mini 5 (for everything else) wherever I go, this whole design is something I can’t wait for Apple to innovate a few years from now. I suspect Apple will do a much better job of implementation, possibly with a roll up screen instead of a folding one.

I respect the fact that they're trying something new. It may be clunky as a first gen product, but it could eventually turn into something really great or inspire something completely different. The industry isn't going to move forward unless some manufacturer's are willing to take some risks instead adding more emojis and miniscule spec increases.
