If you were a developer whose livelihood depended on Apple and Apple allowed you to see and test pre-release hardware, that is a total turd, would you publicly criticize it before release?

How about say nothing at all? Was this developer forced to speak to MR? And wouldn't it make the developer look just as bad for highly praising something that was a "total turd"?

as long as the developer stays anonymous, it would obviously not make him look bad. besides, he probably got the permission from apple to tell positive things about the watch to various media outlets.

What language, if you don't mind me asking? Is it one like French where the official language requires articles (e.g.: "monsieur le President") whereas "street" lexicon does not?

Danish, both sentences should be correct, the difference is more like:

It can play music to your bluetooth headphones without the phone. Also, it can record your fitness activities and sync to your phone once you're near it. Possibly, not enough standalone features for you to buy it though.

I don't need much encouragement to buy Apple products so basically will look for features that appeal without an iPhone. I wish I had a job (actually retired so not really) or some friends (that's true) so I could justify an iPhone, sad really! Never mind, it's all good fun!

Try a different perspective.

A developer who is planning to make money from his own :apple:Watch app is not going to make money unless you buy :apple:Watch and buy his app to run on it. So it's not just a matter of trashing Apple, it would be suicidal to the future of his own app to heavily criticize the device resulting in less purchases of :apple:Watch.

So anyone who says anything positive about the watch is just being an anonymous mouthpiece for Apple PR? It's not even remotely possible this developer had a positive experience with the watch? He's just saying nice things about it to stay in Apple's good graces?

I cut out both sizes ( traced Fromm Apple's site ). The 42 is not too large.

OT: Anyone else getting the obnoxious scrolling Metro PCS ad on Mobile Safari?. I'm on an iPhone6

Yes on the scrolling ad. Where is ad block pro for the iPhone?
So annoying.

I've read tons of stuff saying that the apple watch won't succeed or it won't be useful or the battery life is too short. I'm still waiting for the report from someone who had the the actual watch in their hands and says they didn't like it.

Meh. Just some guy who used the watch. Whoopty doo. Don't trust him at all.
I would rather trust the experts on this site who have never used the watch but know exactly why it sucks.

:D

Two best comments of the day, by far.

But why would someone spend time on an app for a device that's a "turd"? Because if this developer is just BS'ng people will find out soon enough and they'll tell friends and family and post on social media about their less than positive experience which will impact sales.

I'm not sure but I've heard a rumour that Apple is working on a watch, you'd think a site like this would have heard some rumours about it and notified us.

it's obvious that this is a first gen produkt that will have many flaws which will get ironed out in he second to fourth edition

- a dedicated button just for my circle of "friends" whom i "like to stay in touch with most" (and hope it doesn't show me the guy from the project i'm working on this week) that's shaped like the power/sleep button of every other apple device - sure...
- no native apps until ... (?). probably until the next iteration of the watch is only a few months away
- not waterproof
- just one lousy heartrate sensor (until all other sensors they probably worked on are working reliably)
- needs to be tethered to an iphone (instead of being able to hop wifis)
- a fitness function that looks like a pita to use. have you seen all those small circles on an iphone screen? or the ugly trophy-badges ? (it's game center's green felt all over again) or have you ever tried to look how many steps you took yesterday in the health-app? or tried to zoom in on a less than ideal graph there ?

but i still want one of those watches. badly.
i've drunk the kool-aid, now shut up and take my money.

i've even found a convenient way to rationalize the buy for me. it's cheaper than a year at the gym. as long as i use it as an reason to work out, i'll get healthier and even save money compared to the gym (which i'm to cheap & lazy to go to anyways). that's soo going to work.
also, i've got hue lighting bulbs for nearly €400 - i don't have to rationalize every first-world-toy i buy.

8.3 beta has my native language, it is very nit picky with grammar. I almost lost my voice trying to send a test sms to a friend for one hour. Until i found the problem:

(translated)
Send text message to <friends name> (5% success rate)
Send a text message to <friends name> (95% success rate)

Not to be rude or anything but people who speak english (my native language) fluently can still have poor enunciation. They also either speak too fast or too slow or have a lower register. Many people understand themselves when they speak much more than someone else does. The only reason I'm saying this is because I don't know what your voice sounds like or how you speak so I can't be very understanding about your situation unless I was familiar with your native language and know exactly how words should be properly enunciated.

With that being said, I have a 95% success rate with Siri. Also it's important to keep in mind that Siri is a computer-generated voice who runs off AI. I keep that in mind and lower my expectations. After all I'm not really speaking to a human.

Thanks, but I'll wait for the version that isn't ridiculously thick.

Rev A is always a clunker compared to 1 or 2 versions later. Look at iPhone, iPad, etc...

actually, iphone 1 was only marginally bigger than iphone 4 (which has still a much smaller footprint than iphone 6), and even weighed 2 grams less. i had an ipad 1, now i have an air 2. the edges of the 1 were thinner than the air, so at the end of the day, it didn't feel much bigger (the 1 was noticeable heavier, though - which didn't make much of a difference either, because it was easier to hold because of the larger bezels). ipad 3 was even heavier than ipad 2. they just make their old product look outdated and clunky when the new one comes out. that .5 mm you'll actually save in thickness won't matter too much.

maybe the apple watch morphs into an even bigger wristpad some day.
