Haven't looked recently but presumably clones of these will show up on Amazon for $12.99 which is still about $10.99 more than they cost to produce and ship to North America. Gimme a break Apple.

I assume it’d be easy software update to let you answer calls while the phone is in the sleeve.
In any case, most people would not get it even if this feature is enabled.

For those who might have been thinking “if I get a call, I will take the phone out of the sleeve, answer the call, and then put the phone back in the sleeve to finish the call,” you can’t do that either, as the MagSafe automation of sliding the phone all the way back in the case will disconnect the current call.

I tried this 3 different times and the call was disconnected each time the MagSafe automation process was triggered.

They need to kill all their BS MagSafe and wallet products and leave that up to the accessory producers who make proper accessories.

What about answering with AirPods?

I always use a slip case with my iPhone. I've only ever damaged my phone in my pocket or while putting it in or removing it from my pocket. A slip case protects the phone when I'm not using it. When I reach my destination, at a desk or at home, I take the phone out of the case. I use it caseless until it is time to travel again. I guess I don't understand why there is so much confusion over this.

If you are the type of person that drops their phone while using it, this isn't for you. I've never had that happen to me and if, in the unlikely case that I did drop my phone, I have AppleCare+ to get it repaired.

On the other hand, I don't think I will be buying this. I already have a case for my iPhone 12 Pro and this is pretty expensive. If it had been available when I got the iPhone 12 Pro, I might have picked it up but now it just seems like spending money for no real benefit. I don't care about the time window, I have an Apple Watch. So far, I don't use MagSafe. I would never use the lanyard. So the extras on this expensive case aren't worth much to me. If I have to carry a wallet for cash, then I have space for 2 or 3 credit cards already. If they keep this around, maybe I'll pick it up for my next iPhone.

The sleeve is kind of attractive in several ways, but how on earth is it more expensive than a Homepod mini??

Imagine Steve’s 2007 voice:

“It’s a case! It’s a wallet! Let me repeat that: It’s a case! It’s a wallet! Are you getting it?”

They’re charging for both the case and the wallet considering you can stash two cards in there. That’s how Tim’s justifying this new gouge.
