That's a very bleak lineup. I think I'll give this a year to see if there's anything that appeals, but so far, Disney, HBO and Netflix can rest easy.

They're probably working out how much they can raise their prices if people are willing to pay $5/month for Apple TV+

Watched the first 15 min of “The Morning Show” and stopped after a while - I find it’s hard to focus on the story with so many vulgarities.

I kind of expected more from Apple in regards to “PG-ing” the content... but I’m probably one of a handful that thinks you can still tell great stories without needing to have so many vulgarities.

How do I see my watch list? I added some shows but I don’t see anything in the library. I only see them if I download something?

Apple TV+ is Hot Garbage. Even if this was free forever, I wouldn't bother with it.

I know there will be many on here that will enjoy these lame TV offerings but in this day and age, people are highly discerning due to there being just so much quality content elsewhere - they won't waste time on these offerings.

I know fan boys will jump on this and try and defend it but this is a company with untold money and resources that have failed miserably at the starting gate.
you heard it here folks. You either have bad taste or you’re a fanboy if you like these shows.

I haven’t seen one frame of these shows and it annoys me to see posts like these. Guys, like what you want to like. The last thing you need is some internet dude dictating your taste.

Apple have created a bunch of shows that nobody was asking for on a TV service that no-one needed because they know that services are where the money is now.

Couldn‘t have said it better myself. I really wonder what the people at Apple think who their target audience actually is. All of their shows feel like they were created by a business committee, rather than single innovative creators willing to take risks or try something new. And it was a business committee that really really wanted to create a new Game of Thrones or Breaking Bad, but nobody on the committee had any idea why people actually watched those shows. So they had some manatees randomly pick settings and plots points out of one bucket and famous actors from another bucket (sorry, South Park reference there), and then they turned that into a bunch of shows - let‘s see, there might be a hit show there. Or not. Probably not.

I know, for every Apple product, there are some people who say it will fail. But so far, I have only said that about Ping. I think this will be Ping Pt.2. Just a MUCH more expensive failure than Ping. I‘m calling it now: Five years from now, the service will be gone, and the content will be sold to Disney.

I wonder why they gave 1 year free? There are no obvious answers

One year is 60 bucks. How much is an iPad Pro again?

Oops, gee, Apple dropped 60 bucks in the road while shoveling up 300 to 800 bucks for the base model of any of the tablets they sell now, for instance. Oh well...

And... five bucks a month is a recurring cost one is unlikely to bother cancelling, especially if one found a show interesting enough to follow and maybe even rewatch when it comes to getting home from work exhausted and needing something to zone out on.

Personally I think the price point of the subscription, and the free year on a buy of new equipment are brilliant. Sure they dropped a bundle into the production costs of the initial product they are rolling out. It will work out great for them. They're still very, very good at figuring out what they can sell.

Got the 12 month trial via iPhone 11 Pro. Midway through the second episode of Ghost Writer with my 12yo. He’s really enjoying it, and it seems well written and made. Watching in 1080 via ATV 4K; the picture quality is excellent.

also did the first two eps of Snoopy In Space earlier on the iPad Pro. Thoroughly enjoyed that two.

will be doing TMS, See and FAM later with my wife and over the weekend. So far I'm impressed though. Hopefully Apple will maintain the creative & technical standards over the months to come.

The small selection is not the problem. Creating TV that is compulsive viewing is.

I've watched the first episode of each of See, The Morning Show & For All Mankind and I can honestly say I don't care if I ever see any of it again.

TV Shows really need to hook an audience on the first episode and ideally in the first 30 mins - none of these do that. They don't even suggest that there is better to come.

I can't tell, do you like it or not?

Luckily you don’t decide what people care about and what they want to see on tv. Maybe you just have to learn to speak for yourself and not for everyone. Move on and maybe sometime in your life you will find something you’re interested in. 🤷‍♂️

It really needs it’s own app. Right now it’s kinda sitting in the middle of a store? Whatever Apple is calling it’s tv app these days. It’s a mess.

Apple wants to be a store selling competitive tv services while trying to be its own tv service. Terrible.

I have a 2018 Mac mini that I purchased during the AT+ qualifying time frame. It's still on Mojave but I went to http://tv.apple.com and signed in with my Mini and it still shows 7 day trial. I logged out and logged back in and it hasn't changed.

I'm avoiding Catalina until it stabilizes. Does it matter if I'm still running Mojave?

Watching my first episode... Ghostwriter. Yes, I know, kids show, right? Well, fantasy and imagination are my preference, particularly good sci-fi. I'm not down with the boring cop shows, political shows, or excessive violence.

So far, the production quality is too "pushed". They are trying too hard to be the next Netflix. But one thing is apparent... this is just the beginning and only going to be better. The set quality is really good. Room to grow.

Bring it, Apple! Let's see a TV+ hit that tops Stranger Things!

He probably couldn’t do any worse than apple. All apple does is buy what someone is pitching. Apple doesn’t seem very good at this.

Cough, choke! You almost made spray milk out of my nose. Did you actually say there was quality content on television?

Sure. Rectify...but that's not on anymore. Deadwood...but that's not on anymore. The movie was good. Westworld...but only if anyone will be able to make sense of season 3. GoT...as long as you don't watch the last season. The Sopranos...but that's not on anymore, and same as GoT. The Wire...but that's not on anymore. Night Court...but that's not on anymore. Seinfeld...but that will cost ya $500M to watch. Lost...oh wait, not Lost. ...

Watching on iPhone 11 Pro with true-tone and night-shift turned off, the blacks looks patchy. Really annoying.
That says a lot. It means, for a start, that the content is not enthralling enough to distract from the not-as-good-as-the-hype hardware performance of the device.

"long-awaited", that made me laugh.

I agree about the service needing its own app. Being lumped in with the app as is, is confusing, messy and unnecessary.

They should really include like 4 free intones rentals with the subscription. What I’ve watched so far, while not bad, is not worth $5 a month when competing services are close in price and offer so much more. Apple needs a back catalogue of content on this to make this last

Also the rumors about family optimization obviously were wrong since there was a lot of violence and even an actually unnecessary masturbation scene ;)
I mean, that seems pretty realistic to me, in a society where no one can see what someone else is doing...

I am going to watch The Morning Show as soon as Apple has published the entire season. I dont really care about what critics say. They praise shows like The Big Bang Theory which seriously has never ever even made me smile. Let alone laugh.

But what surprises me is that Apple TV+ only has their own 11 or 12 shows and nothing else. I thought TV+ would also have more content but maybe that will happen in the future.
