You’re preaching to the choir. I basically said the 12 pro is on Apple if people here are finding it disappointing. Imagine what the less tech inclined masses think.
People here nitpick things and focus on the nuances. The less tech inclined, which probably supports the bulk of the sales, might have some different opinions than MR posters.

Mainly talking iPhone 12 pro. I’m sure 5g and new design is the leading lure but they get this in the 12. Same screen. Same camera. Not sure why they’d (your average person) want pro besides the shiny edges.

I mentioned i want the max and said why. I can’t say the same for the midtier iPhone 12 pro. Not because it’s smaller but it isn’t much better than 11 pro. I simply feel apple is missing something. A compelling feature as a result of lidar or a14.

It could be as simple as some kind of AR app. Ok I get it lidar and a14 sound impressive but show it off somehow. Why would anyone spend 200-300 more for 12 pro vs the 12?

You do realise they have simply dumped these once bundled items in to separate packages or worse still offloaded to 3rd parties to make way on their pallets for even more packages of new inefficient wireless chargers and magnetised add ons etc

This is win win for Apple and shareholders and simply smoke and mirrors on true environmental impacts which is likely the looser here if the carbon footprint was accurately assessed
As for the magnetized add-ons and wireless chargers, they were going to sell those regardless. As for the headphones and regular chargers, you are somewhat right but I highly doubt the same number of units will be shipped of those products now.

There seems to the same theme every year as a general rule of thumb that, there isn't enough bang for the buck for upgrading from the previous iphone generation. And I can understand that. Everybody's situation is unique and until much later there aren't any statistics on who updates from what.

I agree and the new addons are going to sell but this is an encouragement of less efficient and probably more wasteful than the old alternatives and consumers share some of the blame in this :)

If we want Apple to stick to their claims don't buy alternative charges etc else your just shuffling carbon foot prints and achieving 0, this is the bit Apple conveniently left out of their balance sheet

The stinks. Are they going to expedite a phone to you, or did they tell you back of the line?
When I initially called, I got someone who was semi-useful, but that's the moment the line briefly disappeared, so I did nothing. Turns out she did not write up a report, despite giving me a "case number." The second person I called was useful, but she transferred me to a sales person to "get you a new phone" and this person was not great. She just looked in the same system any of us can, ended up telling me that "inventory fluctuates. keep on checking" OR "send it in and we'll send you a new phone," to which I said "what do I do with no phone for a week or two?" and she said "Oh, I see your point." This, frankly, is the biggest problem with Apple's success - their support staff is increasingly not well trained or knowledgable. I have known, for years, that I am more expert at most things Mac than any support person they have. You have to be when you run a video studio. I only ever called when things got really weird. Anyway, this sales person was not a tech person, but she also sucked at customer support. The green line came back with a vengeance - it's still there - and I finally initiated a chat on the support page. This person was excellent. She initiated a "replace and return," which involved putting a credit card hold on the total value of the new phone, but it'll get refunded once I send the old one back. It's in the mail and will get here by Monday. Faith restored.

Exactly, The last people I go to for an opinion are right here. It's the exact same chatter for every new release, year after year, going back to the start of internet forums. It's so reliably negative and not in touch with reality.

I’m also looking to jump from a 6s+ to a 12 pro.
You mentioned you swapped your SIM card from the 6s+ to the 12 with no problems. I was going to do same when mine arrives but I’ve read that while the old SIM card from a 6s+ will work it will probably not get you the 5 G Speeds. So I’m now going to order the 12 with a new T-Mobile SIM card.

I think you’re right. and I kept the SIM that came with my new phone just in case update but for now my data plan is only LTE anyways.

Hi guys,
I bought the iPhone Pro 12 and a MagSafe case. In this combination it is not possible for me to charge the iPhone on a normal (not Apple) induction charger. If I remove the case, everything works fine. Do you have a similar experience?

Cool!!
Let us know how it works with a mask on (which most of the country is still wearing) and probably will be for another year. A co-worker told me face ID doesn't work for him with his mask on. That's a bummer to have to input your passcode each time. My 6s always works with Touch ID instantly.

Unless you wear gloves.

But you'd think it would be aimed at people with an iPhone X. I thought I'd upgrade mine, but I'm really underwhelmed with the 12 pro. The only thing I can find that's clearly better is night photography - but I'm not going to take enough night photos to make £1,000 worth it for a phone. The phone might only be a handful of mm larger than the X - but those mm make all the difference. It's just too big.

My 12 pro arrived on Friday, I'm dropping it back at the Apple Store tomorrow. I may look at the mini - but I don't think I want to lose the telephoto lens - so I think most likely my X will do another year.

Agree — the biggest upgrade is in the photography. Shots in low light are so much better than with my iPhone X. I haven't had the chance to do much testing, but I know there are other photography improvements too. It'll be interesting to see more LiDAR-based apps as well.

I was surprised at the difference a relatively small increase in size makes. I wouldn't want anything larger than the 12 Pro and am glad I didn't get the Pro Max.

Good luck finding what works for you, even if it means waiting another year.
