Sounds like it's a step in the right direction. Thanks for the review.

Yeah. Overall it has great potential, it just needs a few bugs worked out. The biggest one, it won't play downloaded videos. This includes iTunes purchased movies. It'll stream itunes cloud content though.

It would be cool if you could pull content feeds from Hulu and Netflix and any other video apps from Plex instead. That would make this not needed.

They still haven't added HBOGo, even though they now have both showtime apps added. I am wondering if that is an oversight for now.

As most of our TV viewing is via Netflix and BBC iPlayer. This doesn't look like the TV App will be used very much in the household. Pity, good idea
Hopefully this issue will be addressed.

Just get Plex.....solves all your issues.

Plex? Works for me.

i shouldn't have to use 3rd party software to access content on my apple devices. No longer can access on Apple TV, iPhone or iPad

You mean from your computer?

i used to be able to access all my videos stored in iTunes, no longer have access

The part I find interesting is that "the button formerly knows as Home" has the same graphic as the TV App icon. Which doesn't really make sense if it's a universal Home button. Why not use the the word "Home" just like "Menu" next to it? Or use the square with rounded corners graphic that used to be on the iphone home button?

I think it's safe to say that Apple intended to ship the ATV4 with the TV App but delayed it for whatever reasons. So was the TV Button on the Siri Remote was always intended to do what it does now - take you to the TV App landing page and NOT serve as a universal Home button? I believe the answer is yes. It certainly makes more sense than having 2 buttons serving the same function right next to each other.
That's the first thought I had when I saw the TV app icon. My guess is that they intended to have the TV app in the original ATV4 release.

So how can I watch my content that I did not buy from iTunes but ripped from DVDs?

Someone give me a reason to use this app if I cancel my Hulu and Netflix and go with just Directvnow or Vue? I mean I know it integrates your iTunes purchases here. But if I have Vue, and it has its own guide. Plus DVR functionality. I wouldn't need this. Why would I go to the Tv app to select designated survivor for example, just for it to send me to the Vue app? Seems like it would be one extra step for me.

This implementation sucks so much.

This should have been integrated into an up swipe from bottom of a playing video instead. That way it's always there and doesn't require you to dive into an app to then go to the app you wanted in the first place? I literally can't see how this is better. I go to something like BBC iplayer because i want to see what is out now not to finish watching something!!! I mean duh! I assume it shows upcoming shows i'm watching, however this too is pointless if a new season is starting or something is a category of things like nature programs? It's still better to go to the app for that.

I wish apple had made the TV app learn what you like based on what you watch then just suggest it at the end of a video or swipe up on a video to get similar TV from the content you pay for/is available free. Even youtube does this better right now.

Been playing around with the app on my iPhone the past days and it does let you go through all available content you can watch from the apps you have and see related/puplar shows/movies and so on.

So it is all gathered in one place and I can only imagine it will be improved woth suggestions and such in the future.

Dude u only have 1 tv or what? I have several rooms and one has a uhd tv with an AppleTV 4 and a PS4 too. Buy more tvs and appletv amigo. Dont be cheap plz. I mean money is 2 be used.
Lots of assumptions in the this post.

Besides, how would more TVs and Apple TVs solve the problem? My account is still going to be the one logged in to each of them (as it is right now with my three Apple TVs), so regardless of who is using which TV, it's going to think I'm the one using it and send notifications to my phone.

Or are you telling me I should have two 65" TVs in my living room so that I can have one and my wife can have her own? o_O
