I do not agree
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tethering

You are sharing your iPhone conection to a lap top or pc
But if I need to have a wireless card than I can pick up the same signal that my iPhone can .... No point to these apps
Even wireless cards on older pc's have a built in antena so they can pic up the same signal strength as your iPhone and even more ....
The new wireless cards , USB adapters, and those new tiny tumb drive adapter are even stronger duel band ....
In order to set up an adhoc you need wirless card if you have that you can pick up the same signal as your iPhone ... No need for app!

A wireless card will not pick up the same signal as your iPhone, unless it is a 3G adapter. And then, if you did that, you'd have to pay a subscription fee.

The point in tethering is for those who are on the move and need a 3G data connection for their laptop. There's no point in buying a 3G adapter and paying more money per month when you can use your iPhone for free if you're lucky to get one of these apps before Apple pulls them.

@Kilamite I think you miss read what I wrote...
Please read it again.
This conversation was about wifi tethering! And the fact that my wifi card picks up the same wifi signal as the wifi signal as my iPhone can!
Not 3G....
What I was saying is: if I need a wifi card in order to tether my iPhone wifi signal
Than there is no use to these apps, because the wifi card can pick up the same wifi Signal as my phone can ... And you do need a wifi card on the computer that you are going to tether just to creat the adhoc network set up that is so useless ,
You can NOT creat an adhoc network with out a wifi card ,and if you have an wifi card to creat that adhoc network , Than you can already pick up the wifi signal anyways , no need to tether iPhone. See?

In anycase all I wanted was a copy of the original handylight.ipa
Did not think people would be so strange about it
I ended up spending $2.25 total for some app that I can not use, and $40 dollars for a wireless USB adapter....

I don't know about Mac users but for windows we have archive files so if we want an old archive file , just Becuae we want a copy than we can get a copy.... No big deal
Not a single person emailed me a copy of an original they have bought

Ah I see, you are wanting to tether your iPhone to use the WiFi signal?

You cannot do that with any of these applications, because you have to connect your iPhone to a WiFi network created by your laptop.

I don't see why you didn't just buy a WiFi card in the first place?

No true...I happen to live in one of the wifi spots my city created to boast people comming here on their launch hour and use the area while connecting to wifi... Like most star Bucks and hotels offer open wifi .. there are even apps in the app store to help you find those areas.....

That is what I thought theses apps do!

And I have a PC I was using for sensitive work... so I did not have it connected to the internet period! when I ordered it I ordered it without a wifi card om purpose.
I thought how cool that I can have internet with my iPhone... I can do it with my 3G tethering ...I thought I can tether my wifi!
Well at least Kilamite ,you are not as mean as other people...on here .... the posted images of their screen shots of handylight on their iPhone and laugh that I will never have a copy!

They are probably the same type of people that I take my time to stop and pull over and help because their car broke down and they are stranded....
I am just a person that helps I guess...can't expect every body to be nice in this world.... May be they going to end up one of those people that rant and rave on Craigs List about their iPhone Stolen while at the GYM ....Karma LOL

This was a funny read on wifi spots ROFLMAO

The tethering apps are not for that and are something completely different. They are not for sharing WiFi or finding WiFi, they are purely just for sharing your 3G connection your iPhone has with your laptop.
