Trying to find a free way to Tether w/o jailbreak

I've been looking all over the place for a way to tether my ipad2 with my iphone4 without paying for at&t's service or jailbreaking. I found the .ipa file for handy light and got it into itunes but itunes refuses to sync it. iTunes gives me an error message saying I need to authorize my computer to sync the app; but I've already authorized my computer.

Any suggestions on where to go from here?
I'm open to anything except for spending money on at&t or jailbreak.

Looks like you didn't bother actually reading this ancient thread you dredged up. Halfway down the first page of this very thread:

You can not just add an ipa and sync. The only way to use an ipa to sync is if you’re jailbroken and stuff I won’t say. Probably best to stop talking about this actually.

No one here can help you get that working as it falls under the rules about not discussing piracy.

If you want to tether outside of the legitimate way of doing so, the only viable method is to JB. And if you're going to do that, there are a number of tethering solutions that are more effective than the pirated version of HandyLight you downloaded.

Hey this is an old thread and I really appreciated the detailed instructions for setup but for some frustrating reason everything looks how it should be until I click on safari google and Mozilla. I have iPhone 4s latest software update etc. I just bought handylight pro and it all runs smooth until the final stage , airport status bar shows no bars with smaller opaque icon in centre. Any suggestions please I am pre paid Optus network australoa

I'd like to do the same thing, I have the app but doesn't seem I can create my own ad-hoc network on my ipad unless I'm missing something.

I am not sure if this changed on the latest firmware, but an unjailbroken iPad can't connect to ad-hoc connections (again unless this was changed on latest firmware I have't really check lately, but i doubt it) , It need to be a hotspot or enterprise (infrastructure) connection

Yeah, my understanding if I want to share my unlimited AT&T plan over to my ipad I'd have to create an AD-HOC on my iPad (which isn't possible) then have my iPhone join the network.

My iPad is on verizon 3G and verizon's 3G is slow and spotty where I tend to use the ipad the most (my office) but my iPhone has amazing reception.

Hey all ....
I personally think this is a bad rumor or chain letter type of deal.... I have been looking every were for this app ... Yet nobody has pulled a copy out of their iTunes to share ? Bull !
First of apple supposedly pulled this app for being an ileagal app - a Trojan ( you can contact apple and request an explanation ) so all this nonesence about app piracy has got to stop! Also this talk about stealing from AT&T is bull !
First were I am there is no AT&T , nor do we have tethering plans from our carriers , that is Bull! The app store even has free apps to find local open hot spots in your area , so why is is stealing by tethering those ? And how do carriers loss money? That is what I thought !
Every thread I see on this repeats the same BS!
I have contacted the programmer that made this and I doubt he actually made it ! He is a little off and claims to have gone over 30 computes since then ???? Why kind of answers are those ! I offered to pay him lots of money for a copy and he claims not to have it!
So ? My user name is my gmail adress will anybody please send me a copy? I think nobody did so far cause it is a fake! All the copies uploaded out there are fakes And new users to iPhones are jail breaking their new phones to find out after that the app was a fake! Is there anybody out there willing to email me this supposed real app?

----------

Oh , and apple is selling one that is identical for 1.99 + Taxes, so I paid $2.26 just to see that one and it is a fake too! So I hope nobody buys it!
Will any body gmail me a copy of this supposed real app? My user name iis my gmail adress
