I was a blueberry iMac but it’s been 10+ years since I purchased an iMac.

Their desktops just don’t cut it for me.

I miss the iPod Shuffle more than anything.

I’ve owned (still own) all three models - original bondi blue, 17” lamp mac, and the last.
I’ve loved them all. Wonderful ride.
Lamp-mac was my favourite though. :)
Still stuck on the late 2009 27", since it is the last one that can be driven as a screen for a PC, and I don’t want to try to juggle two screens on my desk.

ditto: have a tangerine and lime in the attic, lamp shade on the shelf, 27" on the desk. Albeit, there are a plethora of other devices lying around that need repair or recycling. (e.g. broken iBook G4, 2009 iMac needing new HD).

i would have kept mine, but had to move several times.
we post plenty of comments here about the iMac G3 with 4 comments per month.
most of the pics are getting rid or donate these machines.
they were huge in pop culture back then though, which seems like yesterday.

Calling it now, either the September or likely the October Keynote will present a redesigned iMac. Likely slimmed down bezels and similar to the Thunderbolt Display's design. Otherwise the minor spec bump versions would've been released alongside the new MBP's.
Yeah I’ve been hoping that thinner bezels and little bit bigger body could yield a 31.5” iMac with 6K display that would have the exact same PPI as the 27” 5K. But if AMD doesn’t update their GPUs by then like Nvidia seems to be doing then I will either get the Mac Pro or next year’s iMac.

Not even close:

1. iPod
2. iPhone
3. Apple IIe
4. MacIntosh (original)
5. iMac

I'm fairly certain there would have been no iPod nor iPhone had it not been for the iMac. It was instrumental in turning Apple around, so (as they say) the rest is history...

I Love my 2013 iMac, but the cost of replacing it with the latest version is a little eye-watering!
(Just about to have the Fusion Drive replaced with an EVO SSD, so it is at least nearer on par with my 2015 MBP)

But Definitely, Happy Anniversary, iMac! :D

If you shop for a refurbish you can pick up a 2017 with just an SSD for a little under 2k.

Computers are ignored? How so? Then what was the debut of the iMac Pro and 2018 MacBook Pro then in under the last year?

Apple doesn't have a proper stand alone desktop in their lineup at all. Vast majority of people do not need Xeons and ECC memory nor need to have an all in one.

Mac Mini = Desktop with 2014 low end laptop specs
iMac/iMac Pro = All-in-one
Mac Pro = out dated workstation grade computer.

15 years later and there's still a demand for these. Quite impressive.

Now if they would take this opportunity to announce the updated 2018 models, that would be perfect.
We don't need a big keynote or any of that, just give us the details. I know there are quite a few of us that have the cash in hand if they would just give us something new.

I'm going to say you're wrong. The simple reason being the iMac Pro has the same 'old' design and it would be obnoxious to change the cheaper model and make it more sleek and modern. Unless they're just going to do both.

Before the distraction of iToys, Apple really cared about innovating in computers. Now we get hype over a new iPhone that essentially looks the same and does the same as the previous iPhone while the computers are ignored.
Kind of hard to argue with the strategy. The iPhone is extremely powerful and useful in a small form factor. Most people can do their daily computing needs on a phone, so it’s obvious the focus should be there.

Apple still makes computers, btw.

Had the 98 versions in college for Graphic Design/Computer Animation. They were great. Mouse sucked tho.

I remember being amazed by the ads that would show the iMac compared to the PCs at the time, emphasizing the uncluttered hardware and "it just works" nature. Here's a good Apple ad that takes me back.

The iMac saved Apple. Without the smashing success of the original iMac, Apple would have likely died - they needed a profitable product to sell like crazy, otherwise the iPod or iPhone would have never happened. Sure the IIe and Macintosh were important - but we likely wouldn't have Apple today, or at least the Apple as we recognize it today - without the iMac.

Incidentally, I still say the G4 design was peak iMac. The articulated display was killer.
