Fun quote from that video in retrospect....

"Last July if you took the number of shares outstanding and multiplied it by the stock price the company was worth $1.8B. We've added $2B to the value of the company since then and I think its just getting going"

They must be planning something special for this year. I have wondered about getting one, but I made a vow to avoid desktops, but that 27 inch is really gorgeous.

Calling it now, either the September or likely the October Keynote will present a redesigned iMac. Likely slimmed down bezels and similar to the Thunderbolt Display's design. Otherwise the minor spec bump versions would've been released alongside the new MBP's.

This. I am so hoping for this.

I doubt it since they just released the iMac Pro.

The iMac 2018, OLED mLED screen with rounded corners. Razor thin design, powered by a Apple processor (or that intel with built in vega)

Powered by an A12 CPU, starting at only $5999. No physical data connections. Keyboard and mouse sold separately at $499 each with a new AppleBluetooth, only slightly worse than regular Bluetooth and completely proprietary. Touchscreen model at $9999 compatible with the new iMac edition Apple pencil sold separately for $999.

The fans will love it.

I used to think that, for several years, but not anymore.

Neither my 27” Mac nor my 17” MacBook can run the latest iOS and macOS releases but - even though the years have been good to me financially - i’m not sure I’m prepared to spend the amount necessary to replace them with the current equivalents.

Congrats Apple. But seriously the iMacs design hasn’t changed since 2004.
Sometimes, when a product has matured into something that cannot significantly be improved-upon, there really IS no reason to update the external packaging.

Volvo built and sold the 740-series essentially unchanged for SIX years.

..and if you want to talk about design-longevity, look no farther than the Volkswagen Beetle. Built and sold essentially unchanged for DECADES.

iMac Pro: all-in-one octopus. You may be fine hanging stuff off your computer that belongs inside the case, I'm not.

2018 MacBook Pro: still has the emoji keyboard, which is a solution looking for a problem. Moreover, there is no more current model with real keys, not even a castrated one.
If you want your iMac to look like a tower computer turned sideways with a display glued on the side, sure.

When you call the TouchBar an "Emoji Keyboard", your second example doesn't even deserve a response.

We had one of the original Bondi Blue iMacs. I remember Jobs' line, something like 'Out of the box, booted up and on the internet in less than 10 minutes', which was unheard of at the time.
My favorite ad for the original iMac: "There is no Step Three..."

Brilliant!

Too many anniversaries. Too many whistful memories of how things were better in the past. Too little “edge of the seat” excitement at what’s coming next.

Not 128GB MacRumours - wasn't it 10GB? I had one for my degree and that damn hard drive failed half way through my dissertation!!!!! Cost £200 in 2003 to replace the drive.
The plastic case of the iMac was very prone to cracking.

Very innovative design at the time - kind of really ugly but cute. Now the Emac was the ugliest thing ever wasn't it.
Emacs were fugly, mostly because of the flat-face design. Looked like it had gotten punched in the face, LOL!

But it was also a VERY nice machine (especially at the end, with the 1.42 GHz PPC G4 CPUs). LOTS of Ports, USB 2 + FW 800 (IIRC), 802.11g WiFi, ATA HDD, SuperDrive, good max. memory support, 17 inch monitor.

I bought one that was decommissioned from from some school for $125. Used it for a few years in my livingroom running Security Spy as a security-camera monitor and also an iTunes-Server, until the (unfortunately under-specced) Power Supply failed...

I remember playing Nanosaur on it.
Where are the Dinosaurs?

Another Brilliant Mac ad!

Computers are ignored? How so? Then what was the debut of the iMac Pro and 2018 MacBook Pro then in under the last year?
You cannot be serious. Look at buyers guide and see why he/she said that.
Mac really is neglected and has been for a while. Mac Pro is still far off, displays got killed (again, reintroduce will take a while), mac mini is a joke, shall I continue?

I love the Thin Design these days. It can get thinner or just all Glass front would be great. It's fast enough for everything that most people do who are not in the professional industry. So make it thinner and all glass Apple. I'll be on the buying list for sure.

I know plastic really isn't in vogue these days, but it would be nice to see Apple have some fun with their products.

Maybe some colorized, anodized aluminum iMacs as homage? They definitely need to put out some more colors for the iPhone lines.

One would have thought, that for once and for this anniversary, they would introduce something completely crazy in design and form, just as hommage to the iMac...but alas, we are more concerned in iPhones now and continuing the same now-boring iMac design year after year after year...

No SCSI! No ADB! No expansion slots! No floppy!

USB isn't mature enough to really solely on it!

Steve Jobs wouldn’t have ever allowed this!

Oh wait...

Silly post. iMac has always had enough ports AND it's a desktop. If this was the MBP, I could see where you mocking others makes sense (to you) but here? No.

Point out to me exactly what's proprietary on Apple's current lineup of computers.
