Hard Drive Icon Location

How do you make the Hard Drive Icon stay in the upper right hand corner of the desktop as it did when it was new? I apparently have changed something as it will never stay in that spot.

Try going to Finder and hitting ⌘-J to bring up your view options. Keeping things arranged by type should work (and so will other options).

Check the setting of "Snap to Grid" view option.

Finder>View>Show View Options or right/ctrl-click on Desktop and select "Show View Options"

i also have a question regarding the HD location. for some reason it always moves itself to the about 3/4 of the way down to the bottom when I restart. I think that checking the snap to grid will work, but is this supposed to happen? why?
