I am looking at the Western Digital RE4-GP 2TB 64MB Cache WD2002FYPS to replace my two RE2-GP 750GB used for back up.

I am having trouble finding them in stock anywhere, has anyone seen them for sale?

They look to be the best 2TB drive on the market from the reviews and have a 5 year warranty.

They seemed to be the best option.
Thoughts?

:(

Thanks though,
Unfortunately, I've not seen any other site that even offers them either. :(

I guess you'll have to wait a bit. Either for another shipment, or another vendor. I just placed an order for 3 Caviar Black 1TB's (backup). The 2TB drives are just too expensive for usage ATM, and I couldn't wait any longer.

Sorry it wasn't of more help.

Thanks man,
I filled up my 750GB and it would be almost pointless to replace it with a 1TB, and I have heard too many bad things about the 1.5TB's to try them.... one option left.

Unless I do an OWC Mercury Elite external drive setup ($129) or MaxUpgrades Setup ($129) + 1TB drives (x2) = at least $450

You can go either with 2TB drives, or a multi drive solution. JBOD, or some form of RAID. Both can get expensive quickly, depending on specifics. JBOD/enclosures might be the way to go if you need more than 2TB though, as it can get cheaper as the capacity increases. (One enclosure, many drives). Look at Port Multiplier enclosures for the low cost side.

The cheapest 2TB I'm aware of, is the WD20EADS, and it goes for $250. As it happens, it's the same price as the 2TB external drives (2*1TB+enclosure) I've seen. It's not the fastest drive around, but it's big, and would be ideal as a backup drive. If this is going to be all you need for awhile, this might be the best way to go. ;)

Good luck. :D
