Yeah they do. I don't know who's fault it was this time but normally 3rd parties *are* aware of hardware changes and have products lined up and ready to go at time of launch or even before. How do you think they get all those iPhone and iPad cases and accessories to market at the same time as the Apple launch?

Because unlike computers, iPhones are usually pre-announced to an extent, and the iPad was also pre-announced? Duh? It took Speck and InCase a good month or two before they had hardshell cases for the current white MacBook. Why? Because it wasn't pre-announced.

How about the Speck SeeThru case?

Does the transparent SeeThru case fits the new MBP 2010 17" with Magsafe?
2.5 years ago, I heard that dirt/stuffs could get through the gaps between the case and the laptop to cause scratchings of the MBP. Has this problem been fixed?

The unibody compatible cases do, with the white (older) adapters. The newer aluminum adapters tend to stick out at an angle by about 1mm, although it charges the notebook fine.

I strongly feel so. The last SeeThru I had never gave me such problems to begin with. Anyways, the new one with the new MBP is a very accurate fit. The computer doesn't "rattle around" inside the case.

Thanks. Just to make sure. By "new one", do you mean the recently made (1 year or so) See Thru or the SeeThru Satin?

I had (still have) a see-thru/clear Speck hard case on a 2006 Macbook. Yes, that one lets crap get in between the case and the computer and it's caused abrasions that have scratched the old non-Unibody casing. I hate that thing...the lid is also way topheavy so when you pick it up the Speck weight causes the lid to flop closed more often than not.

Then again, that particular machine is kept in a dusty/dirty environment....a woodshop actually. I use it for design purposes for some of the work I do. It does get put away in a dustproof container when the shavings start flying, but it is often open on my workbench prior to/after actual work.

The new Satin case does have a tiny bit of give. First off you've got holes in the bottom of the case, but also if you look VERY closely (almost need a magnifying lens actually) on the fit along the bottom part of the Satin case back by the hinge lid, you'll see a slight pucker. It's not an airtight seal, it wasn't meant to be. So sure, I bet crap can get in there also with heavy use....even lint from your backpack or whatever.

That said, if you want an airtight seal that is assured to NEVER let something get between the case and the body of the laptop, you'll likely need to use InvisiShield or something similar. That or get your buddy at the monster truck store to apply truck bedliner coating to it. :)

Just take the cover off every once in awhile and clean the insides. No big deal.

Thanks. This may sound silly. Perhaps the best protection would be to put on the invisibleShield/bodyguardz first followed by a hard case such as the transparent SeeThru. By the way, does the upper part of SeeThru transparent still limits the range of motion of the 17" LCD screen?

Thanks for the photo. It does not look that bad. If we make the hole larger, that corner of the MBP may not be well protected. Can you open the LCD lid for about 120-130 degrees?

is that ok?

Well, according to this thread the new design was public knowledge in October 2009.

i thought about possibly returning the case, and contacted incase. they told me to fill out a claim form which if i have had the product under 30 days and they deem the return fair under inspection will either give me a new case or refund and i will be going refund. I was told to upload photos if possible. The rubber foot on the bottom as you can see from the image has gone completely screwed. as a result it will fall off and i will soon loose it which will render the whole point of rubberised feet uselesss?
