I had a pre-order through Apple with an October 4-10 ship date range (Jet Black, of course). I found a Matte Black on Apple's website and ordered it 'pick up at store' and paid in full. When I went to the store, they refunded that paid in full and changed it to the iPhone Upgrade Program.

Mine was 'preparing' for shipment since Saturday (BS) and it still is. Apple has it set up to re-route back to them when it ships, so all is well.

You do not have a Next agreement until it actually ships, so waiting until you have it in your hand will work just fine.

Awesome! Glad it worked out for you. Well I want them to switch my in-store order from IUP to Next. Hopefully they can do that. I am not on an IUP plan.

No, he didn't kick it back to inventory.

Great! Things are looking up, haha.

I had called Apple to cancel my pre-order and they cancelled my store pick up instead. Fortunately, the store inventory person knew darn well it was a mistake. No way is anyone cancelling a 128GB Matte Black 7+, so he put it aside and I was able to purchase.

Nice. So it sounds like the people in the store can take control of things. Just how it used to be in the good 'ole days of pre-mass market inventory systems. Remember when you used to be able to call into stores and have them put your name on something, reserving it for you with nothing but a post-it note?
