Apple said that my iPod 80gig was supposed to ship Wednesday from the TN warehouse (which is a one day trip via ground).

It shipped this morning from Shanghai =/ No estimated delivery date from FedEx. And, the status is "Missed last daily shipment."

When I called about my order, they said that I ordered it so quickly it was one of their initial batch they had. Obviously, they were wrong.

Update: FedEx has updated! It will be delivered next Wednesday!

Picked Mine Up First Thing...

Wednesday morning at the Shibuya Apple Store the minute the doors opened (given the time difference this was the earliest I could get one!)

It is a Blue iPod Nano and his name is "Blue 'nano-kun" -- my other 'nano is "White 'nano-kun" and I am not sure what I will do with that one, but will probably keep him -- I still have the very first 'chunky' iPod (and it still works -- got to love the physical scroll wheel on that one) and his name is "iPod-kun", one with the buttons accross the bottom of the screen (not a good design in my mind, but I got one none-the-less) and he is called "Button iPod-kun", one of the original iPod Photo's and he is called "Photo iPod-kun", a 1st Gen 'mini called "mini-kun" and a shuffle under the name "shuffle-kun"

Oh well, at least I don't have an iPod video yet!

No new iPods here in The Gong but it seems somebody has just backed a truck up to all the department stores and emptied new nanos into the stores by pushing them off with a broom - they're everywhere and in good supply in all colours/capacities.

The AppleCentre had stacks of them, very nice looking but in my opinion I find the design less revolutionary than the original nano. When it was released I didn't think it was possible to make a fully-featured iPod so small and so classy. Yes, they scratched easily but they just look really sweet. The new nanos (iPod mini 2) are just shrunken minis - we all knew they could make an iPod that small so they just brought back the aluminium and the colours. Don't get me wrong, they're very nice, I just see the design as the lazy decision from Apple - it's a proven and popular design but to me seems very "safe."

I wanted a nano from the day they were released, I was almost obsessed, I'm not obsessed with these new ones.

Tell you what though, the old ones are on sale here - $299 for a 4GB old one now, same price as the new metal ones. 2GB are $219 - same as the old 1GB version and the 1GB version is $179.

iPods are also on sale - new models are a little slow getting down here. 3 to 5 business days wait quoted on the Apple online store.

Yeah, i want the 80GB and i called tues and thurs to the three apple stores around the dallas area. tues they had nothing. wed 2 had the nano. i didnt call thurs cause the 80GB went from "the end of this week" to "maybe next week sometime" so i dont know! would it be faster just to order one online? or would that take even longer??!?!? im affraid if they ship at the same time (to me and to the store) that the store will get theirs quickly and mine will take longer (im to cheap to pay for next day shipping or whatever) maybe the apple store will have a surprise for me when i call today and they will have them in!

Yah, i think its def. faster to order the videos online, rather than play phone tag with apple to see when they have it in. The nanos however, are available everywhere now. My order status still says hasn't shipped yet. its slated to ship on the 18th and arrive on the 20th. I probably shouldn't have paid the extra 12 for 2 day but o well.

I ordered the 80 gig on Tuesday, and got notification that it was shipped today (9/15). I should have it by the end of next week. I'm really looking forward to getting it; my current iPod is a 2G (10 gig).

Semi-related question: Anyone know when in October the new Shuffles are supposed to ship?

Umm, I watched the press conference and I checked apple.com and both have no definite date they just say "ships in October." If i had to guess they'd be shipping within the first week.

Mine shipped from Shanghai two days ago (maybe it was three), and will be here early next week. (80GB)

Scheduled to arrive 10:30 tomorrow morning as well. Trouble is i wont be home then, but ill just leave them a not to either leave it on the side of the house, or with my neighbor who works from home.

I just got mine, any luck yet? This thing is amazing.

Mine arrived at my work address yesterday. One of the few benefits of being in Anchorage; we are often the first stop for international packages. Unfortunately, I was still on vacation in Seattle, so won't have a chance to fire it up until tonight. It is really nice looking, though.

While I was in Seattle, I took the opportunity to pop into the Bellevue Apple store, and play around a bit with the one they had on display. Really nice, with a bright screen. (On another note, that 24" iMac is HUGE! ).

If nobody gets any pictures taken before tonight, I'll take some and post them on my .mac site.

Can anyone recommend a case? I'd like a completely clear, see-through one, the better to admire the loveliness.
