Can anyone recommend a case? I'd like a completely clear, see-through one, the better to admire the loveliness.

I've been keeping my 5G in the Agent 18 for a year now and it looks brand new. Completely see through but tough.
The link above points to the whole video kit but I just bought the transparent cover, which looks much better in reality than in pictures BTW :D

im standing in an apple shop and i just laybuyed a new 30GB white iPod
i feel so special but i hope i get more money soon so i can pay it off before christmas

I agree with synapple. I love that the 80 fits in the 60. Mine arrived today. I was so excited to get it. Its loading songs and videos on it now :) yay oh....i have pictures too, ill upload later. and i LOVE the new headphones, very nice.

Success! iPod synched without a problem, videos I had previously burned using Handbrake loaded and played without a problem (mpeg4, 320x240).

Below is link to a couple of pics I took. Not too great, due to lighting and poor photography skills. Basically, the look is identical (or nearly so) to the 60GB.

ETA: Thanks, Synapple, for the case recommendation. I like the style, and plan to go ahead and order the kit.

How are you likin' your 80 gig? im lovin mine! wooot

It's fab, especially after my 2G. I am having a bit of trouble adjusting to the touchwheel, but I'm sure I'll get used to the difference.

I like the video capability. I don't think I'd want to watch the Lord of the Rings trilogy on it, but it's nice for music videos and TV shows that don't rely on a lot of special effects or panoramic scenery.

I don't care for earbuds (they make my mild TMJ act up) so I ordered a pair of Sennheiser headphones at the same time. The sound quality of these is very good, much better than the cheap Sonys I was using with my 2G.

My new baby, only had it for 30 minutes:

Just taken with iSight, then downsized a bit, so forgive the quality. I love how the case opens, all it needs is smoke and a pneumatic hissing noise :p

Wow McKellar that blue nano looks gorgeous!
I hadn't seen real life pics of the coloured nanos but I have to say that your blue one is stunning... makes me wonder if I did the right choice in getting a silver one... I'm starting to get some colour envy :D

lol... so you ended up getting one! I told you so!
Yeah, the green one looks great as well!
And I do love my silver one... the only thing I'm kinda still undecided on is the edges... I loved the square edges of the orginal nano and I'm still unsure whether I prefer the rounded edges of the new one... Big problems.. :D

iPod 80g

I got my new 80g yesterday. It only took 3 days from China. I was only able to load 10g last night. I put on 2 movies, Immortal and Tomcat-Dangerious Desires (this is off an old VHS I copied to DVD and ripped with Handbake). I ripped 2 Firefly shows off my DVD and about 200 fanvids for Farscape, SG1, Buffy and LOTR. Some Madonna, Steve Matthews Band, Sting and k.d.lang music videos off my DVDs (I use Handbake). About 1000 of my best rated songs. I have over 6000 on my iMAC but It took about 2 hours to put on what I currently have. Also a few podcast - Joe Cartoon, DogBlog.com, AppleTV. Love it to death.

I'm still waiting for my ebay cases so am using my old 20g cases instead. Same size but the screen is cut off. My 20g never leaves my iHome in the livingroom.

I'm still on the fence about getting Bejeweled. I love that game and already have it for my MAC/PC.

Unfortunately my black 80gig is stuck in shipping hell - according to the shipping company Apple forgot to include manifest information for the shipment so until they rectify the mistake it's stuck :(

My 30gb 5.5g black ipod is suffering a "Potential Connection Delay". Potential my ***, it's been there two and a half days! Sucky TNT. I want my new ipod! I've been using a zen vision:m for the last three months and it's just not comparable to the ipod experience. Thankfully I have a 1g nano to tide me over too.

got my blue nano yesterday...so far, I haven't put it down. I love this one so much more than my previous nano. I have finally seen what the attraction to the mini was.

Got my 80GB from Amazon last week. Syncing was weird at first... iTunes kept "unexpectedly quitting" on me. It seemed to be hiccupping during iPhoto sync. I restored the iPod to factory original settings, and restarted iTunes. I disabled iPhoto sync. It went smoothly thereafter. I later went back and synced a few photo folders with success.

Anyway, this is a sweet piece of gear. I've still got 25GB left for more videos and tunes, I've got Seasons 3-6 of the Simpsons (ripped from DVD), plus a few movies, and over 30GB of music.

I purchased Zuma and Bejewled from iTMS. Zuma is really cool, Bejeweld is OK (the scrollwheel is hard to get used to).

All in all, I'm loving the 5.5 G iPod. My wife now has my old 40GB 4th gen in her office hooked up to the stereo, so she's happy too.

All of a sudden the page gets updated and it's out for delivery! My ipod is here and it's very lovely. Synced no problem with itunes7 (fingers crossed that it continues).

I had a problem syncing to iPhoto too, last night. The first time I synced it went fine, and I synced a single iPhoto folder at that time without a problem. I tried to sync additional photo folders last night, but kept getting an error notice that iTunes couldn't find the iPod (even though it was showing up on the iTunes menu). I restored the iPod to factory settings, and changed settings to automatically sync photos as well as music/movies, and it updated without a problem. Of course, now I have my entire photo library on my iPod, which I didn't plan, but as I have plenty of room I'm not going to worry about it right now.

my and my wife's 80gb (both white) have been stuck in 'order processing' at macmall for 2 days now. :( i was in no hurry to order one, but now that i have, i want to ship already!
