Im fine with it, I got it mostly for the form factor, PC laptops bug me because theyre like jigsaw pieces put together. The MBP is about as good as you can get for a solid and slim form factor.

I think its far from perfect though, the screen could definitely be MUCH better in todays age, the resolution especially is ridiculous. The power is nothing to write home about for the money.

I cant think of a PC laptop I would rather have, I would never touch Mac desktops with a 10 foot pole but I think their laptops are the best at being laptops.

its another opinion thread, there needs to be an opinion section to this forum. Where run on threads can be separate from constructive threads where problems are solved.

Well then why are you even wasting your precious time posting on this thread if you think lowly of it? I'm confuzzled.

I regret it.

I upgraded when the late 2008 Macbook Pro came out. It's just the type of computer I need because I move around a lot. Weeks after getting it, my hard drive started having issues (Would not boot up) So I took it back, they said nothing was wrong....Took it back again after having more of the same issues, and they said it was the logic board. They replaced the logic board and the problem still kept happening. So, I took it back AGAIN, and this time they replaced the HD. The problem came back AGAIN (the HD wouldn't mount) I stopped going to the :apple: store because they were getting sick of me coming back, then my iSight camera died and my computer wouldn't shut down.

So finally, they gave me a new computer. Everything had been great for awhile, until my HD started to not boot up AGAIN!!! I still live with this problem and they can't fix it. It usually takes one-three hard boots before the computer will find the hard drive upon startup. I take very good care of my computer, the HD is only a quarter full because I'm scared to keep any files on it..so I regret it.

Anyone else?

You're one of the very, very few.

Out of curiosity, which HD did/do you have installed in your MBP? I know it's different drives, but is/was it the same make/model? 7200 RPM drives each time, or mixed with 5400's?

The capacity is 250gb. I'm pretty sure it was mixed with 5400's--But don't quote me on that. Not exactly sure..

I only ask, as I seem to have been reading here about folks with the "click/beep" problem with their MBP hard drives. I don't know if a single point of failure has been found. I do know the 250GB drives have been harder to come by, or at least taking longer to build, when ordering new MBPs. I went with the 320GB for that reason, to avoid the shipping delay.

Related? No clue. know what I'm babbling about? Probably not...

I was reading about the click/bleep problem. I have only had that issue a few times and then it goes away.

I almost was regretting it after going 15 rounds with Apple technical support and there retail store. not so quick synopsis of issue...Mac Book Pro 2.4 GHZ 15 inch from 2007 started shutting off on battery power first thought would be battery...no dice, they checked it and found no issue.

I fired up in the store and replicated problem in front of genius...it goes back to get checked, but they did NOT move it forward in Que which meant a 7 day wait to get checked again. Fast forward 7 days they verify issue and will send to apple repair depot under Apple Care warranty, they call to verify data is backed up before shipping out I call back and tell them to ship it all data is backed up...grrrr fast forward another 15 days I check online status still has NOT left apple store.

I call Apple tech support to find out what the deal is they call store...no one forwarded the information that data was backed up and ship out unit...grrr I almost lose it at this point call manager and get this straightened out unit ships off to apple repair depot, fast forward 4 days unit comes back they test it and guess what, they have not fixed the issue...grrr but manager has had enough and pulls out brand new unit 2.66GHZ 320BG 4GB Mac Book Pro and swaps it out...my faith in Apple has now been restored...sorry about the long rant but it worked out.

Not in the slightest, this is my first one and have had it since the end of April, been perfect so far *touch wood* Absolutely love it, even down to the trackpad, and have always detested them on Windows laptops.

Going from PC to Macbook Pro was the best move I've made in recent history. Looking forward to my shiny new 2.66 15inch MBP at the end of this month!

Also, just got the gf the 13inch MBP last week - she's not regretting the switch at all. She loves how easy it is to do everything and I think the Expose feature just sent her into 7th heaven. She says she feels 'poor' booting into Windows now (she still has to to use Articulate (some software she uses for work).
