I miss my Nokia 7110...???

I wish there was an app that would let me emulate it, including the ultra-cool flippy-out bit...
The 7110 never ‘flipped out’ it was a slide, maybe you meant a different model # as Nokia had way too many numbering schemes lol.

I’ve downgraded twice I believe:

iPhone X 2 wks after launch, in 13 days returned for an iPhone 8 same 256GB storage size.
iPhone 8 to SE OG for 4-5 months to prepare me to go 12 mini.

Everyone has their reasons/preferences/needs. Just glad to have choices in iPhones available along with iOS support timeline.

I'm thinking about moving from my 12 Pro to a 13 Mini.
I was going to go for 14 Mini but doesn't appear to be happening.

I'm ok with no telephoto lense, As I've had my phone since launch I think the 13 Mini will be similar battery performance which is ok.

Looking forward to the change!
I'm a little tired of the bulk of the 12 Pro

Sort of… I went from the iPhone X to the regular iPhone 11… not really a downgrade but some people might think so. The only reason I did it is for the LCD display because of migraines, but lots of people consider LCD inferior to OLED. Personally, I’m in the group of people who want a premium device without OLED eye strain and associated headaches. I’d love an iPhone 14 Pro with an LCD screen.

it’s worth it. I went from xs max, to 12 pro max, to 12 mini to 13 mini.

I've ordered the 13 Mini phone case already as it was on sale but won't be opening it until its definite that I'm getting it. We are just waiting on our pet insurance to confirm they will cover the cost of our dogs operation. Thankfully he's ok but didn't think it would be wise getting a new phone when I could potentially have a few thousand to pay for the dog.

All being well I think I'm going to go for the Red 13 Mini. Always wanted a red or blue iPhone. I usually stick to black, white, silver etc so its time for a change. My 12 Pro is the Blue one now which leaves red. Also my wife has the 13 in Green.

I was always a Plus/Max user. I just got rid of my 13 Pro Max for a 13 Mini. Best decision I made!

I'm thinking of switch from my actual 12 Mini to an OG SE.. I have two OG SE but with only 16GB and that's totally unusable for this modern times.

If I find one with at least 32GB probably I'll sell my 12 Mini and buy it. Love the mini mini factor and just how tiny and portable is and of course, the f.cking mini jack.. I just really really hate the needed of use an adapter to use my jack headphones

I did just that. I plan on going back to my 12 Mini a month after iOS 16 gets released as the OG SE likely will no longer be supported and I like to keep up to date with all my apps and firmware.

I've gone from an XR to a 6s. Size is everything. Much easier to cycle/walk/travel anywhere & work lighter without thinking if it'll fall out of my pocket.

Yes , from IP XS MAX to IP 8 Plus , No regrets

8 Plus have wider and 16:9 screen which is more readble than the long narrow XS max screen. And Touch ID is flawless

Been with my 13 Mini from 12 Pro for just under a week now and so far so good. Only really had one instance where I wished the screen was bigger - got a document emailed to me and found it difficult to read it so just went on my iPad.

Pleased so far

I wouldn't mind downgrading from my 13 pro max to the 13 pro. The pro max it's crazy heavy =(
The battery life is what keeps me coming back to the max.

I have a 12 Pro and it's stupid heavy compared to every Android I've had previously. The 13 Pro is even heavier.

I wish iPhones had a "sport" version that was polycarbonate instead of metal and glass.

The phone is completely different from an 8 and just because it’s also 12 MP doesn’t mean the overall image quality is the same.
Higher megapixel counts don’t necessarily make better photos.
Not sure why people are laughing - you’re entirely right. My CoolPix from elementary school takes 10MP photos, but is outclassed by even my 5S.

More megapixels = better pictures is like saying a 600 hp car is faster than a 400 hp one. If they’re the same weight / size, then obviously, yes. But if the 400HP one is a Porsche 911, and the 600 HP one is a 4-ton double decker bus, then, not so much.

Picture quality depends on the lens, quality of the sensor, and the image processor, all which are greatly improved in the 13 vs. the 8. Hell, you can tell the difference between a 13 Pro and my XS, even.

Bought a 13 Mini as my SE 2016 was slowing down. Used it for 2 weeks and couldn't get used to it. It's too big for me, Bluetooth earbuds too glitchy, FaceID is slow / doesn't work in the dark / does't work with face masks. Replaced the battery of my SE 2016 for £20 and the battery lasts the whole day now.
Update: Used a Google Pixel 4A for 5 months with Quick Cursor. The one-handed mode works well but it's still too heavy, and the 6 GB RAM isn't enough. At a concert, people with iPhones standing a similar distance away produced better pictures (low-light, colour accuracy) than me.

Now on SE 2022 and sold the 13 Mini with Beats without too much of a loss. The 4.7" screen size is acceptable but the heft of the phone is still too much. Apps are lightning-fast and low-light camera performance is much better compared to Pixel 4A. I was factory resetting my 13 Mini and had PWM nausea lasting an hour afterwards.

My app benchmark is Duolingo. My beloved SE 2016 would overheat when Duolingo was launching and it would hang. The SE 2022 is much faster than my Google Pixel 4A in launching it too.

Hey everyone!

I’m wondering if anyone here has “downgraded” their iPhone.

By that, I mean something like going from an iPhone 13 Pro Max to an iPhone SE 2020.

What were the reasons? Any regrets?
I had to once when I upgraded to an iphone 6 then it got run over a few months later so I went back to my 4s. (that I had for 5 years already). That was tough because I restored from a backup and the 4s was a 32 and the 6 was a 64. What a nightmare lol. I eventually went to a 7plus in 2018 but I had an app on it that would only work with below ios14.5 so I couldn't update the phone. Half the apps don't work anymore because it's still on 13.5.1 lol. So now I"m using a 6s. It's hard typing on the 6s since it's smaller. plus it's only 64gb and the 7plus is 128. I did not restore the phone from a backup. I just logged into icloud and set up the home screen the same way as the 7plus.

What I find interesting is more apps worked on a 5y/o 4s than work on a 5y/o 7plus.

so I guess my point is.. if all the apps that you need work on the older ios go for it. If not, you'll be forced to not downgrade so far. You should be good for a couple more years with the SE since it was only realeased in 2020. I'm looking to buy an 11, my price limit has always been $450 (I always buy used and shop for many months until I find a good deal as I did w/ the 7plus..she could have gotten $600 for it at the time). 11's are at that price now.
