I honestly can barely remember the last time I even used a desktop. I don't even use an external monitor with my laptop. Just absolutely no need.

I do have an rMBP but it is plugged in 5-6 days a week - no monitor or anything, just the rMBP. A couple months after I bought it, we cut the cable cord so it has become mainly a streaming/downloading device for television shows. In retrospect, I should have just gotten an iMac as one day a week I use this thing off the charger just to keep the battery healthy. My iPad is my main device and can do just about every task I need on it. So I truly don't have a need for a laptop - a desktop/iPad combo would have worked perfectly though my rMBP/iPad combo works great for now too.

I have the exact same dock as you, and do the same. I prefer to be docked at work, but I need mobility for when I train people.

I have a Magic Trackpad and keyboard too.

Awesome. I use the keyboard but instead of the trackpad I use the mouse. It's OK. Heard logitech was better but it takes up a USB

I have a cMBP that I use as a desktop. Just plug and play with an external monitor.

I have a MBPr 2.6/8/256 Haswell model.

I bought a really nice Dell 24" monitor recently and have a really nice Dell 21.5" as well.

I pretty much always dock my MBPr these days using a TwelveSouth Book Arc and use my MBPr as a desktop.

I might use my MBPr as a laptop occasionally but no more than 1-2 times a week.

Edit: How do I add a photo I dragged and dropped but it didn't work.

Still no picture despite being advised (below) how to include one. Are you going to learn how to add a picture? Or is your aim simply to rack up grand of posts within your first year on MacRumors…? If so, perhaps you should edit the name of the thread.

I wanted a decent sized matt screen monitor of my choice, a decent set of speakers, and only occasional transportability (sans peripherals) so I got a desktop; a Mac Mini. If I needed more grunt I would go for a Mac Pro (as a mate has done recently, running a matched pair of monitors).

If I needed more than occasional portability I would supplement my desktop with a low spec MacBook Air.

I can't see the point of acquiring a cute looking portable computer, designed to tote from home to office or class, to cheeky cafe or park, then leaving it on a desk.

It gave an error. So no pic. Can you change the title? It won't let me. You would be an awesome human, just delete the pic included part at the end

What kind of error? It will work if you follow the instructions.

You can edit the thread title (other posters can't), by clicking "Edit" then "Go Advanced" on your original post. You will see where to edit the title.

If you plan to post much in the forum, it's to your advantage to learn how to use it.

Done! :D:D:D

I tried the mouse, but it feels really awkward b.c of how thin it is. I also cannot seem to get gestures down with the mouse. The trackpad is flat out amazing.

Plus as a lefty it feels natural having the trackpad on the left side. A mouse with my left hand feels weird.
