I've gotten some notification from the TextFree app and haven't had any from AP. I setup Umbrella to notify me @ 7:15am if I'll need an umbrella and when I awoke an hour ago (sleeping in ftw), I saw it on my unlock screen. Woohoooo. Also, the badge on the app indicates the % chance of rain. It was at 81. I'm in Philly and apparently it's been raining ALL week!

At any rate, though I found the notifications I've gotten to be pretty cool, I'm definitely excited for AIM's push app to go live, and most especially GTalk.

The wait continues...

guys if you want to try out push get heyWAY it works really well. although youll need a buddy on it for it to work. so if you want to add me my email is mattpreston11 at me.com

would highly recommend it its good fun.

i just got the ap push - and i got a notification badge that 7 of my apps were updated in the app store - woo hoo - push works. but apple is gonna have to update its notification system.

Got one!

I got an AP one this morning. Thats however been it. I have had no updates since Wednesday. I used to get at least one a day but it seems like forever since one of my apps updated. I wish Apple would get to approving these updates since I am told some of them that they were submitted before 3.0 was public and its 3 days after that day

Just got a second push from AP.

Blast at Tehran Shrine of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini wounds 2.
Yup, I got this notification.

And just as I thought, ANNOYING!!!

Right in the middle of a game.

I guess I got to turn off the pop ups and just live with badge and scroll through 6 pages to find my updates.

Grrrrrr.....

LOL..

Still love the phone though! :D

Hmmm, my notifications are on, however I turned off the push in my email setting, turned it on to see if that help. Will that solve it? Or could Apple be blocking my push since I am on a 2G not on ATT?

I get Push Notifications from AIM. They are good, but there is one major problem, they dont function like a Text message would. If you leave your phone alone, they dont stay stuck to the home screen, and if you get a text afterwords they are gone. There is nothing on the lock screen to tell you that while you were gone you receive a AIM message. And the original message is gone once you receive any other sort of alert. Also, AIM takes forever to open, which makes push not all that great

this is whey we need apple to do with the push notifications what they did with visual voice mail - we need visual push notifications!! one repository of all the notifications we received. i'm sure apple is working on this - they must know that eventually we could be receiving quite a few notifications. i think if the home screen could roll up - like in the map function - that would be a very cool place to show all the notifications.

What are some of your ideas?

A poster in another thread came up with an idea of having one app, that "collected" all the notifications.

Of course, if they go that route, they will probably ruin it by using that ugly smiley face icon, but I digress..

Your idea would work as well.

this is great, because all people are running to the stores like crazy and paying for a 2-year plataform that really can't compare to the pre in terms of communcation.

Two more today. Looks like its at least starting to take off in AP Mobile. I wish others would follow suit

Yup, same here.

But it appears the notifications are about the TOP stories only, so really, the notifications are depend on AP making the story a TOP story vs. just a regular story.

I guess they felt the US Open Winner and the new law Obama passed with regards to smoking were both worthy.
