Has anyone had their estimated ship date moved sooner than initially estimated?

I wasn't let into the online Apple Store until 2:10 AM (Central). I was flabbergasted to find that I wasn't being offered in-store pickup on the 10th: the soonest was the 22nd. I checked all the local Apple Stores (there are eight in a reasonable distance), and I didn't find anything sooner at any of them. By the time I resigned myself to waiting, ship times slipped to May 8th or later! I checked out at 2:20 AM, and still have a "3-4 week" ship date for my gold 1.2/512 model. (I paid $10 for expedited shipping, and my shipping estimate is currently May 6-May13.)

I was curious...has anyone been told one shipping time at checkout, and subsequently seen the shipping estimate revised after the fact?

I noticed that the gold 1.2/512 was the first model to see shipping times slip, but I resisted the urge to pick a different model, even though I was seeing "1-3 days" shipping times on them. After all, why compromise on a long-term, big-ticket buying decision, just to get your item a couple of weeks sooner? Now, I'm not whining about not getting what I want, and I'm trying not to make myself crazy hoping that my shipping time gets moved up...but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't checking my order status multiple times a day

Honestly I would cancel the apple order and order from Best Buy, they seem to have it together for this launch. Apple will get their money either way, but I can't believe the runaround they are giving us on this product launch. If they wanna focus on their watch that's fine, but its a rude way to treat mac customers in the process.

Disappointing

I live in Australia, a high penetration country for Apple. We are always in the first wave of releases. As we were with the rMB - or so we thought...

I have a delivery date in June and still cannot even see an rMB in any of the SEVEN Apple stores in my city (Sydney). But there are rMBs sitting on the shelves at Best Buy in the US. That seems seems pretty crazy to me.

That's for a product that is "available now". My Apple Watch, which is only available for "pre-order", ships next week...

Rant over.

It doesn't even look like bestbuy.com can help me. I ordered a 1.2/512 in gold, and that's also back-ordered from Best Buy.

I'm usually a pretty patient guy, but hearing about the experiences of people who've received their new MacBooks has got me worked up! :)

As I've said in another thread, It's clear that Apple considers Europe and the rest of the world as a provincial backwater.

Their flagship stores in major capital cities don't have stock for demo, while a third party seller like Best Buy has stock in the U.S.

It leaves a bad taste for those that are watching their American forum-mates get deliveries while they have to purchase blind and wait weeks for the privilege.

Crazy, when did you order it? I ordered mine 50 minutes after sales went up (12:50 pacific time) for SG base and got a delivery date of May 6-11. I live in Switzerland and ordered from the Swiss Apple website, which is also not a Tier 1 release country.

I'm in Canada. Out of the gate the ship date was 3-4 weeks, but it just shipped today. Delivery by 24 Apr!

I missed a call from Apple here in Ireland yesterday. I haven't been able to find out why because their automated system drives me to tears. Really hoping it has something to do with my May 19th delivery date for my 1.3/256 although nothing has changed on the Order Status page yet.

Did anyone else get a call?

Mine hasn't moved but for what it's worth - I ordered a 1.3/512 at around 2 minutes past release time and it says delivers 4th may - 11th may here in Sydney

I don't know many companies which don't put more marketing, more supply chain, and give more love to their home countries. If you ran a company you'd likely do the same thing.

Me.

I had a 3-4 weeks shipping quote last Friday morning from Apple, then I walked into Best Buy on Monday afternoon, walked out with a Macbook in my hands. I'd say that was a pretty good movement on delivery times.

What?! +1 for what config did you order. I got my order for a base model space grey in at 3:13am and I'm still sitting at 3-4 weeks (delivers May 11th+). What the heck!

Heineken, our own Dutch brand! ###

HAHA, yeah except they'd sell the country and turn it into a big factory and distribution center if they could haha. Heineken has turned completely corporate, it's no longer Dutch Beer. LOL

I would prefer a Jupiler any day!

The only home a company cares about is the one that offers it the best tax incentives. The idea of an "American" or a "British" company is generally jingoistic nonsense used to sell products to gullible patriots.

However, I agree that Apple does seem to have decided that the US is more important to it financially. That is fine. But the simple courtesy of an explanation as to why their stores in the rest of the world don't even have display stock might've been nice. It would've made us feel less like second-class customers paying first-class prices.

I'm also in Canada and just shipped. 1.2/512 Silver. Ordered a little before 8am Eastern on the 10th.

USB-C to USB adapter is still stuck in processing. I wonder what the chance is of picking one of those up at a store...

My father is in the US and used Apple.com to order. He received his MacBook on April 15th, but the estimate at the time he placed his order was like April 22nd.

So yes, that is a ship date that changed (got significantly sooner) after order placement.

Seems like a lot of whine.

My billing address is Irish but the shipping is a British address and I haven't gotten any calls. Still set for May 8-14.

You're right, of course. It's completely inappropriate to complain about poor customer service on a forum about Apple products.

Perhaps you took a wrong turn and got lost on your way to the fan-club. :)

Easy for him to say that when he's already gotten his rMB.

What was the promise of delivery that you got when you ordered? At what point did Apple break that promise? And at what point did they said the product would be available for display in store that they've since retracted? I think just because you don't like the way they operate, it doesn't equate to poor customer service. Plenty of people on here elated with their Macbook, myself included.

I was amused to read that a store has to specifically promise to display an expensive new release that it wishes its customers to buy. Otherwise, all bets are off and there can be no cause for dissatisfaction. I just hope the same principle doesn't apply to my reasonable expectation of lighting and the floor being sound to walk on.

Not liking the way a company operates is one of the few legitimate reasons for complaining about it.

I am happy that you are happy with your purchase. I suspect that you would feel differently if you were in the position that most of the rest of the world (or at least that portion that would like to order a MacBook) finds itself in.

I don't think your position is unique to not being from the US. Here in California, we still cannot walk into an Apple store and buy the Macbook. They say "go online and order it" ... yet their competitor, Best Buy, has had them in stock for a week now.

I don't see how in any situation a company would get inventory quicker to their competition quicker than they can have inventory themselves, unless this is the new direction Apple is going, turning their stores into display cases and online salesrooms for products, which defeats the entire purpose of having a store to begin with.

Dunno what to tell you. I hope this isn't the direction Apple is going.
