Hi! i had my lasik 2 years ago and honestly by far i have been enjoying my second eye sight. I was really a book worm before and an introvert. My world is so small its just within 10 inches around me and everything else beyond that was a blur. At first I was skeptical like everyone else. I hate needles and i hated seeing blood. whats worst is i hate getting scared but i cant close my eyes. thats the first thing i asked the optometrist, dr. dee when i had my lasik screening. how scary and painful will the surgery be. she just smiled at me and asked me back, do u like seeing ur dentists and having your tooth extracted? i told her i dont like dentists but i had experienced a couple of times having a tooth extracted. then she confidently replied "then u will survive with flying colors. I really did not get what she was telling me but after the screening and meeting the great Dr. Yong Larrazabal himself, i was very convinced that i am in good hands. The surgery was just less than 10 minutes. I had -2.50 for my right eye and -6.00 for my left. i cant leave the house without my contacts or eyeglasses. however, after the surgery, the minute i left the operating room, i was taken by surprise for i can finally see my parents looking thru the glass window of the operating room cheering on me. i waved back at them and got a bit emotional for it was a surreal feeling. I can truly attest it was a life changing moment and the rest was history. I'm seeing the world better. thanks Dr. Yong Larrazabal from Centre for Sight Cebu Doctors' University Hospital!

It has almost been a year since I had mine done and it's still the best decision I ever made. My vision stabilised very quickly, recent tests say my tear-stuff is back to normal. Interestingly my vision was deteriorating at around -0.5 each year but hasn't dropped since having my eyes done. Got me wondering if there's some way visual acuity can snowball like that.

I still think if you're considering getting any corrective surgery to go for it. It really has changed my life.

(small bit! My surgeon left the clinic I went to and now works for Médecins Sans Frontières!)

I wish I could switch back to my old vision for a minute and then back just so I could appreciate how much better it is. I think I probably take it for granted now.

Cebu? As in the Philippines? If you don't mind, how much did that procedure cost you, in Pesos? I need to figure out if it is worth the air fare vs being in done in the US. Then there's the vacation factor and the relatives expenses to consider too. LOL

Two years now (how time flies!) and still perfect vision. No drops in distance or up close acuity. Eyes really must snowball when they're really bad.

Yes! It's a strange pain having excellent vision 24/7 now. I used to like 'switching' my eyes off.

Gosh, it's been a looooong time since I got mine done.... 17 years!!!!!!! Paid $999 per eye which was a no brainer since I was already paying $500+ for glasses and contacts each year. This was back when LASIK was a new fad and was everywhere. Got mine done in Beverly Hills next to Rodeo Drive. IIRC I had -6.00 diopter + astigmatism which is like 20/500. Glasses were as thick as Coke glasses and I was blind as a bat without it. One incident that convinced me to finally get it done was when my glasses fell out during a roller coaster ride at Six Flags and I had to wait til closing time for them to retrieve it since I couldn't drive without it.

Never had any problem since the surgery. I had some minor halos at first but it quickly cleared up. Never had dry eyes as I've gone like 15+ years without using eye drops. The only real problem I had was slight blurry vision when overcast but that also cleared up. Never needed reading glasses but I will need it soon as I'm starting to have problems seeing up close. But I'm sure it's age related and not surgery related.

Getting LASIK was the best decision I ever made. I'm sure my optometrist is wondering why I haven't returned since 2000.

I had it about 6 years ago. Don't remember how much I paid (actually, my parents paid for it back then, since my mother had had surgery ~18 years ago).

I also was an user of thick glasses and the surgery helped a lot. However, I still need glasses (thinner and more fashionable, however) and suffer from dry eyes, so I need eye drops.
