Keep me updated on what happens. I'm also going to contact them for some kind of freebie/credit about this being an inconvenience ;)

My new 15" had a few broken pixels. I called Apple Support to day and they told me I can keep this one until the replacement arrives. The guy mentioned it isn't standard procedure, but he offered it himself due to the long shipping estimates.

So I suppose you can ask for this bit of extra service as well!

Same issue as you, had to mail back the computer first. Sent it out on Monday, they received it on Tuesday. Replacement shows Processing Items still, but it's expected to ship out within 5-7 business days. Most likely shipping out this weekend, but my expected delivery date is Dec 8-12.

I just said that I cannot be without a computer, they ordered the advanced replacement and then sent me the following email:

I didn't have to ask for anyone or anything. The first person I spoke to on the phone offered it to me without having to ask. He said he offered it because I had been waiting for shipping a long time and the replacement would probably take a long time as well. I recieved the exact same email as maka344, so there must be some default policy on this.

Could it be that they can't offer it when you specifically ask for it, as the policy might be prone to abuse or something? Or it only applies if you have AppleCare (I do)?

I have AppleCare and asked for it. They checked in their system and it said that an advanced replacement was not possible under any circumstance.

At the end I didn't have to replace it and all is good, but I'm still disappointed this option doesn't exist, at least for Switzerland (I'd even pay for that!).

Maybe it is location restricted. In addition, the agent will order the advance replacement, you'll see it under your original order and then it goes to another department for approval and then you'll get the above email within 24 hours.

I called Apple CS on 25th of November because my Speakers are defective due to the Bootcamp issue.

Without even asking, the CSR stated that surely I Need the machine for my Job and therefore I can't afford to be without my MBP. He said he'll check with his Superiors if they can send me a replacement in advance and that he'll put me on a priority list. He apologized like a dozen times for the inconvenience and that they want their customers to be satisfied.

My replacement has now been shipped to the shop and is currently shown as available on 8th of December so it didn't even take two weeks. I can pick it up, set it up and drop the defective unit of at the Apple Store within 5 days because I picked it up there.

What more can you ask for?

I would suggest not "demanding" something but rather explain the Situation to them. I've had nothing but great experiences with Apple in Terms of replacements. I've had multiple iPhones they replaced even for cosmetic issues. Just be polite, explain the Situation and then stop there. If you Need your machine daily, then just tell them.
Don't demand something, don't get offensive or defensive , just wait them out. Let them figure out a way to solve your situation and make you a happy Customer .

Always worked for me.

Thanks for your input guys! Did you call or request the sales department when the robot thing asked what your call is about? lol

Not yet, it should be delivered by December 13th so I expect it to ship this week!

I called Apple AGAIN, and spoke to sales, explained my situation, and polielty requested an advanced replacement and the rep got me to a supervisor, very nice lady btw, sounds kinda hot too, but anyways, she put in a request for a advanced replacement and hopefulyl it gets approved.

also....i kind of have the opportunity to upgrade my config again...from a 2.7 to a 2.9 processor for my 15inch mac. everything else is 16gb ram, 512ssd and 460 4gb video memory which im fine with.

the only downside is, i can still keep my mac while i wait for it, but it will take longer sinces its a new order, and i will ahve to put another big hold on my credit card.

do you guys think its worth the 200 dollar upgrade ffrom a 2.7 to a 2.9?

honestly...this upgrade is prob more for peace of mind then performance if there is any performance difference haha

I think what I did was to request technical Support initially and after that I was routed to the Sales (?) Department to arrange the Details for the replacement. They confirmed the in advance replacement within 2 days, then they estimated a date for pickup on the 15th, the it dropped to 13th and now it's shipped and it says 8th although I guess it could arrive even earlier.

My replacement finally changed last night to shipped from Shanghai, arriving at my office here in San Jose on Friday.

When did you do your replacement?

I called last Saturday and my replacement went through on Monday. They received my previous model on Tuesday and my replacement is expected to deliver on Dec 8-12 and it's still in processing!

I called Apple Saturday morning of 11/26. I dropped off the system at FedEx around noon time the same day. According to Apple order status page, they received my system 3 days later Tuesday, and it shipped from Shanghai this past Tuesday 12/6. It was supposed to be delivered early yesterday, but UPS had an "Operations Issue" and delayed it until sometime today.

Lucky! Mines just got delayed and the new shipping time is 15-19. How's your new replacement?

It's running great! I looked it over, every corner as soon as I opened it to make sure this one had no damage too. Booted it up, spend Saturday going through my previous backup and copying over my documents/data that I needed. So far everything is good, indexing finished so my battery time at 100% so far is around 10 hours.

Welcome me joining the club of those getting a replacement. I have started the procedure today via sales department and I didn't request to keep my unit until the new one arrives (as I may be on vacation when I get the delivery and might not be able to return the old one within 5 days), although they offered to do so.

I can see the order of the new MBP in my account with an estimated delivery of Jan 4-11. I hope this date will change as soon as they get mine back. The courier hasn't called yet to schedule a pick-up - I guess that will happen soon.

How did everyone else's replacements go so far? And by how much does the delivery date slip once they get the old one back? Any comments on the total turn-around time (from initiating the replacement procedure until delivery of the replacement unit)?
