I think the Apple store would more likely have more priority over the phones than CPW or O2.
They got through 4 in an hour and a half at my o2 store! Upgrade system crashed so had to enter manually. Got of now though and it's brill!
I got a 16GB this morning from O2 store (upgrade from simplicity jailbroken iphone). I had to fill out a form (no computer system).
Problem is, I cannot activate in iTunes. It says 'no service' on the phone. However, I can use the phone, sync to it etc... so its weird. 'No service' but everything else is OK. Could be because the order didnt go through on their computer system?

If O2 can upgrade by paper and pencil why the hell couldnt they have shown apple how to do that so we could buy fro Apple Retail!!!!!!!!!!!???????????
I certainly dont want to give O2 anymore cash now.... they can have my contract but i will try and wait til Apple can process upgrades and i will happily give them the £159 for my 16GB upgrade!

New SIM?
Anyone have any ideas about whether you keep your SIM if you are upgrading? My friend has just got back from O2 after upgrading. They gave her a new SIM and said it was because normal SIM's are different to iPhone SIM's but in the info pack about existing customers that they also gave her it pay monthly customers should keep their old sim??

I dont think i have been so pissed at one company before!
I know its just a phone but hearing all of these tales of woe and mishaps and the rest is stomach turning!

You get a new one I think, the old one is 3G enabled but they activate your new sim card I guess.
I took the SIM out of my original iPhone and put it into the 3G. It's working perfectly. This goes in line with all the info that has been published.
That said, they can just activate a new SIM with your existing number on, so I'm sure it's not a problem!
