I've noticed the lag on my 7 Plus but was hoping it was because of background tasks being performed after restoring from backup; for example, indexing for Siri searches and scanning photos to be placed into memories. Unfortunately, after 4 days it has not improved. I've compared it side by side with my 6s Plus and my iPad Pro 9.7, both on iOS 10.0.2, and the iPhone 7 is the only device with this symptom.

I also tried turning on reduced transparency, but that failed to offer any improvement. When the UI lag on the 6 Plus was an issue, turning on reduced transparency had been helpful for my device. In that case, the bug effected only the Plus size, where in this instance, both sizes of the 7 seem susceptible.

Perhaps it's an issue with the response of the new home button, or the haptic feedback, that a iOS update will fix.

I have exactly the same. Slight stutter when closing Apps for the first time.
My iPhone 6 also on iOS 10 doesnt have it. Smooth af, like before.

Must be an issue specifically with iPhone 7/7+ and iOS 10.
Hopefully it gets patched. Its annoying.

I'm running the latest beta and I don't notice anything strange on my 7 Plus when comparing to my SE running official 10.
But I do wish that there was a way to completely turn off all animations. I always select reduce but it's not good enough, I want instant satisfaction.

definetely noted since the first time i used it (iphone 7). my ipad air 2 is waaay smoother when closing apps...

Happens on both iPad pro's too.......its ios 10 ....definitely needs to be updated through software

Nope its not iOS 10 alone.
I have 10.0.2 on my 6 & 7, the 6 doesnt have the stutter. 100% smooth like before on iOS 9.
The 7 has the stutter. I think its a problem with A10 CPU combined with iOS 10.

My bug report on this has been marked as a duplicate. This is good news as it means they are aware of the issue, AND reading our bug reports. :)

So this should only be a temporary issue until they get around to fixing it.

It's an easy fix but there are other more important things to look at. Don't expect a fix anytime soon.

I don't know about that. A bug that makes your flagship, latest product seem slower than the previous generations is pretty damn serious, from a marketing point of view.

Spears to be fixed in my 7 plus with the 2nd beta

I still notice a slight hesitation when the closing animation begins, but now that Auto-play Message Effects is fixed under Reduce Motion, I don't really care. I hate all app animations on principle. :D

I had my Home Button Click Speed set to Slow for some reason. I've set it back to Normal and it feels so quick. I think the behaviour is intentional and is exclusive to the iPhone 7. All prior devices have had a button to physically press.

There is no way this was intentional. Try opening an app, but immediately press the Home button while the app is opening, and it immediately closes without hesitation and with a smooth frame rate.

I took a slow motion video of the iPhone 7 Plus (iOS 10.1 beta 2) app closing animation using my iPhone 6 and posted it to YouTube. No judgement or analysis, but it's... interesting.

That was definitely lag......I don't call that a stutter

It's not really lag, or a stutter. If you'll notice the animation skips ahead. There is no delay, nor are there dropped frames.

What we're seeing is not lag, a hiccup, or anything like that. It's just the way the animation is.

It seems to me this issue has been fixed with 10.1.
iP7 128 GB is much smoother now.

What's your experience?

Found a quick fix for this issue. Go into your accessibility settings and turn off Zoom, Magnifier or anything that's on there. Closing apps lag GONE!

All accessibility settings were already off for me, why would they be on for so many people in this thread without them knowing?

Needless to say, didn't help because there was nothing to turn off
