Has anyone ordered a 4870 for 2008 Mac Pro?

I am sent an email to apple finding out why mine got delayed, they said
"Owing to an unexpected supply delay, we are unable to ship your order by the original quoted dates" as their reason.
I have a feeling that mine is not going to ship out today...It's 7 pm here and the status still says 'Not Yet Shipped'. I'll let you know if it somehow magically ships before the day is over.
I wouldnt be suprised, I've been harpering on the apple store support staff, they seem to say that the products are on hold till that date and there is no further information available at this time. ie the usual crap they say that the product availabilty changes rapidly and it could ship sooner rather than later.
I wonder if it is a hold off until 10.5.7 hits us.
No luck, got an e-mail this morning from apple saying:
Due to an unexpected delay, we now anticipate shipping the following item(s) as follows:
MB999ZM/A, ATI RADEON HD 4870 512MB-ZML
Ships by 7- 10 business days
Delivers by May 6 - May 11
I don't really see why 10.5.7 would make a difference, but who knows maybe it does. This same card works in the early '09 pros already. Odd.
Bummer, not as bad as may 20 though!
The current mac pros shipping with 10.5.6 have a special driver with it.
Cancelled my order. I'm hacked off with the ridiculous delay on this - 2009 Mac Pro owners have 4870s, and have done for weeks, so it isn't a hardware problem.
I dont know about the mac platform specifically ,but ATi's 4850 /4870 are much much better than Nvidia

The 4870 is somewhat on par with the GTX260/280. The 4890 is in direct competition with the GTX275. The advantage of ATI cards is that OS X seems to run smoother with them, but the better advantage is that you can run crossfire, it is supported on most intel chipsets. As for PhysX, ATI is looking at something similar called Havok FX..not to sure about the info on it though.

Well after weeks of the Apple store saying it would be 4-5 weeks, it now says 7-10 business days on their website.
Thinking of pulling the trigger or picking up a 8800gt someone is trying to unload.

Mine status just changed to "prepared for shipment", scheduled to arrive on 5/8 now.
Im using my 8800GT from my older Mac Pro currently.
I think I will be waiting for mine a little still. Although it now says on the apple store to ship within 7-10 Business days..mine still sits at 20/05/2009
I got the same email and same revised shipping date. I was looking forward to receiving it next week.
