Eagerly awaiting the post where OP complains about his battery life being dramatically different now.

First world problems².

Here is the post you have been waiting for... 50% battery at 1:32pm. Usually have 40-50% end of day with my old tsmc chip. Oh boy...

What's so funny? Maybe you should be laughing because you can't comprehend simple things like how usage works.

I had a 6+ and now I get 2 hours more usage per charge.

Also, when will people realize that usage will vary depending on what apps are used, to what extent, etc?

My pardon, I misread

My first Samsung phone had a small white speck on the screen (factory defect) so I had to get it replaced and got a TSMC phone replacement...lol. Guess you could say I got lucky.

Dang. I say return it and let them know about how it's worse than the TSMC version. Maybe a bad battery in general, which would allow you to swap the device again.

This your first usage, just after loading the phone with back-up? You might want to give it a few days to settle down and cycle a few times to get a bit more relevancy to you data. How long did you have the previous phone? How many times had it been cycleded? Just saying might behoove you to compare apples to apples. Tongue in cheek.

Even other people reporting difference in either direction were not reporting that big a difference. Also guard against differencial usage. It can be hard to resist constantly waking phone to see where your percentage is at. If it has that much difference, may be something other than the chip. Could have failed on the battery lottery.

I agree with the post above. Give it at least two days. My first day with my new TSMC wasn't exactly impressive, but today it's awesome.

Definitely give it time before you decide the battery sucks.

There seems to be all kinds of background updates happening after you start up a new phone. Also you might be better off cycling to zero once with a full recharge to set the software for full range of battery life. The percent battery is software driven and needs an occasional recalibration.

OMG you got a Samsung? You no longer possess an almighty TSMC? You might as well throw the Samsung in the trash. I'm guessing the battery will blow up in about a week.
