Going to the store and holding in hand doesn’t really cut it for me. What are your thoughts on your switch. I’m trying to decide if I should stay with the 13mini or make the move. I did just order a thin Kevlar case for the 13 mini.

You just mentioned you ordered a case for the mini. Then just stay with the mini. You didn’t like the feel of pro in store. There’s your answer.
I never said I didn’t like the feel. I haven’t been to the store and I haven’t held it. I’m saying holding it in the store doesn’t do anything for me. Wanting to hear from anyone that’s taken it home after coming from the 13mini and their thoughts. Who cares if I’ve ordered a case. It’s not about the money.

It IS entirely possible for a Mini user to love the pro, my other half did just that, got the 14 pro and loves it! Feels like a whole new world with larger screen, better quality and most importantly, better screen and camera. Never ever did I think I would see this day....

I came from a 12 mini and the weight is what I notice the most. The weight in the hand and pocket is the big difference to me. The bigger screen and battery are a big advantage but Im still getting used to it. I'm going to try it for the next 10 days to see how I adjust. Also not having a physical sim is a bad move from Apple, I may return it just because of that.

Hi FlyingTexan,
i am in the exakt same spot like you. I like my 13 mini very much and my new iPhone 14 pro is my daily driver since Friday. The one handy user experience is slightly worse with the iPhone pro. I can’t reach all parts of the display with my thumb so easily like with my iPhone 13 mini. Pulling down the Notification Center one handed on ip14pro is a little bit uncomfortable for me. But i know use the double tap on back Funktion to show the notification center.
The best pros for the ip14 are the for me the display (pro motion), and the camera system. In fact in daylight an in 12mp mode i cant see any improvements in foto qualtiy compared to my 13 mini. But the 48 mp modus is really nice, auswelle as the night shots.
The dynmic islands and the always one screen are really nice too.
The additional weight is really noticeable in the first day, but then didn’t really bother me anymore.
Last year the pros can’t get me to ditch my mini but in this year i think i will move to the bigger phone. :)
One hand handling gets better form day to day, too^^XD
I live in Europe, so the IP14 pro costs me 1429 Euro.. which is insane.. luckly i can get a 25 percent discount… for the Orginal price i would not buy it.

Not the 14 Pro, but I tried to switch to the 13 Pro from the 13 mini twice. Couldn't get over the weight or the size. Granted, I only spent about a week with the 13 Pro and I'm sure it would've felt better over time but I really just love the 13 mini form and it feels so right to me.

iOS 16.1 will introduce Reachability with the island., which should make things a little easier.

I did the switch from 13 mini to 14 Pro, mainly for better battery life now that I'm getting back into traveling for work and going to keep the 14 Pro. I can hardly notice the 120Hz screen vs. the 13 mini 60Hz screen so YMMV. Both screens seems to be just as smooth.

I love the 13 mini's size and weight but when I'm not home or in the office, the battery life doesn't cut it when on cellular. The biggest downside of the 14 Pro is the weight but I'm getting used to it and honestly, it doesn't feel much different in the pocket, which I thought it would. I still want a lighter device so hopefully the 15 Pro will be made lighter.

It's also not as much 1-handed friendly but it's not terrible. You can't cover the whole device without shifting it in your hand but reachability does help. My ideal device would be a 14 Pro with 5.8" screen and all day battery life.

I went from the 12 mini to the 13 pro and after a year I’m still not happy with the 13 pro weight. If I use my phone for more than 30 mins I get an indention in my pinky where the phone is resting. I’ve started using it without a case most of the time and it’s a little better. I really wish I would gotten the 13 mini instead of the pro. I’ve looked at them in stores and I just don’t think I could get something without promotion now.

I did switch from the 13 Mini to the 14 Pro Max. I love the Mini and would love to keep it until it falls apart but the battery life doesn't meet my needs and I can't alway be near a charger. It also gets really hot. I figured that both the Pro and Pro Max were slightly uncomfortably big so I might as well get the additional screen size and battery life of the Max. The Mini is my second favorite phone after my old X. The size of the X was perfect for me. I'll adjust and I'm grateful to have the means and opportunity to be able to upgrade when so many people are struggling with so many real things right now.

How do you like the max?

I’m doing the exact same thing. Powered down my 13 mini and put it in a drawer. If I do not get used to the weight and heft of the 14 pro by next weekend, I’m going to have a hard decision to make.

I just did this switch on Friday, 13 mini to 14 Pro.

Slight culture shock feeling with the Pro in my hand when I picked it up for the first time. Big and heavy. Then I pick up my 13 mini and I couldn't believe how tiny it is. Quickly got used to the size of the Pro and I was fine after a hour.

Right now I'm going caseless on my 14 Pro and it feels great in my hand, not slippery or any concern about dropping it. I have really missed the camera on the Pro models and the screen quality is just stunning. Plus much much better battery life. I'm ok with this move.

I wish there was a 14 Pro Mini, but it looks like it will never happen.

You will get used to the pro res and quickness 😂

The screen is beautiful and the battery is phenomenal. I personally really like the deep purple. I'm indifferent to the dynamics island but don't notice it as much as I noticed the notch. I was also able to get more storage than was available on my Mini which I appreciate because I live in a rural area where reliable internet doesn't always exist. iCloud is only a nice solution if you can count on having internet. That being said, my gut really wants me to transfer this eSim back to my Mini and make the 4 hour drive to return the Max. It is weird to be so attached to a thing. The sooner I am able to send it back the faster I will adjust to the new shiny thing.

Nice, so keeping it?
I had a mini before also. Nice as a second phone IMO.

I have a 13 mini and love it. I played wit the 14 pro at ATT store and honestly it was HEAVY. I dont understand how people like the heavyness of these Pro models. Its a brick. I also sound DI to be pretty underwhelming/eyesore.

I’m going from a Blue 13 Mini 128GB to Deep Purple 14 Pro 512GB.

I’m going to see if I can get used to the size and weight again after 2 years of Mini use.

My main reasons for upgrading are:

New 48MP camera system with ProRAW
Better lowlight photos
3x Optical (I missed having a telezoom lens)
6GB RAM
ProMotion Display

I hated the size of the 11 Pro Max when carrying it in my scrub pockets. That’s why I loved the Mini series iPhones. But the iPhone Mini comes with trade offs and now I’m trying to go back to using a regular-sized iPhone again.

I did the same upgrade. I still really love my 13 mini. The pro isn't too bad size wise. I upgraded for the crash protection, dynamic island, battery, and believe it or not, the color. The deep purple looks fab. I am going to shoot some family video this season for the first time and see how it goes with the 14 pro.
